The Football League published an article showing how much clubs have spent on agent fees:
    http://www.football-league.co.uk/ne...l-league-club-payments-to-agents-2828445.aspx

    1 October 2014 to 30 September 2015

    Sky Bet Championship

    Birmingham City - £443,570
    Blackburn Rovers - £1,254,610
    Bolton Wanderers -£964,869
    Brentford - £600,636
    Brighton & Hove Albion - £912,421
    Bristol City - £231,316
    Burnley - £1,363,831
    Cardiff City - £2,828,133
    Charlton Athletic - £656,759
    Derby County - £1,102,071
    Fulham - £2,735,336
    Huddersfield Town - £429,343
    Hull City- £1,813,919
    Ipswich Town - £261,347
    Leeds United - £786,897
    Middlesbrough - £850,285
    MK Dons - £672,371
    Nottingham Forest - £1,440,730
    Preston North End - £194,961
    QPR - £2,361,742
    Reading - £2,391,666
    Rotherham United - £185,430
    Sheffield Wednesday - £792,203
    Wolverhampton Wanderers - £849,600

It kind of shows what newly promoted/smaller clubs are up against in this division.

Not a fan of the Sunday match. Spurs, Athletic both play a lot of Sunday matches. Meh!

Exactly what is an "agent fee" and why does the club pay them?

Most (if not all) professional footballers employ agents to represent them when it comes to finding new clubs and signing new contracts etc and as far as I know whenever a team signs a player for any sort of fee the agent takes a cut of it, which is probably why agents are always trying to manufacturer moves for the players in their portfolio. It's probably a lot more complicated than that in reality but the way I see it the more money a club have spent on agent fees the more they will have spent on players.

ok. more or less exactly what i thought it was. but it almost sounded like an additional fee the club would have to pay to sign a player.

it just comes* out of what said player gets paid.

*oops! had to fix that as i'm being harangued on OO about my grammar.

However it works exactly most clubs in the Championship have spent more money on agent fees than we can afford to pay on players. :(

Agents are a scourge to the game. Actually they're a scourge to all sports.
