Then start the MLS season a little earlier and have the northern teams play 2-3 games in warmer weather on the road. It's not an excuse. MLS chooses its format. It also chooses its top heavy DP model which negates any depth, also a choice on their part. Tonight is when you put it on the table and see who's is bigger. Only losers play the excuse card.
I wasn't claiming it to be an excuse - "excuse" would imply shifting the blame to someone else when it's your own fault. It's a fact that the two leagues are built differently, and I don't think anyone here is under the impression that MLS teams, even at full strength, are quite at the level of LMX teams. That doesn't change the fact that, due to how things have lined up in this particular bracket with their group stage performances, the MLS clubs are in a worse position than they would like to be.
Club America's in yellow; the Sounders are in green. It was Seattle that got robbed with that non-call on the handball. HTH.
Fun game to watch and Dempsey was fantastic, but Seattle is done heading into Azteca. No way they win there.
I thought the MLS teams looked very capable of playing with the LigaMX teams this week, even if the results weren't favorable. Other than DC, there wasn't a lot of bunkering from teams that were playing their first games of the year. It was a solid effort.
Galaxy - most pathetic club out there. Arena - most pathetic manager out there. If you don't want to play in CCL, give your berth to someone who does. Disguisting.
And mind you, teams that want to bring in internationals can't then turn around and dismiss international tournaments. Just imagine what last night did to Gio's psyche, with his own NT coach (who has openly questioned his moving to MLS at this point in his career) watching that massacre in person.
