I don't know Spanish. I would rather any MLS club win the CCL than any Mexican club. I root for the CCL champion in the Club World Cup regardless of where in CONCACAF the club is.
So how long before canadian teams from the Premiere Canadian League are in Concacaf Champions League?
They'd have to qualify via the Canadian Championship...and considering that the MLS clubs will likely have first dibs on local talent well into the future, I don't think it'll be anytime soon. In fact, I'll go on record: a lower-division team will win the US Open Cup before a lower-division team wins the Canadian Championship.
If it goes through (I trully hope it will!), it would be awesome as it finally makes adding more Canadian teams to the competition possible. I wouldn't mind to see one team qualifying via Voyaguers Cup and one via Premier league, or maybe separate the former into two brackets - one side of it is for MLS/NASL teams, the other is for Premier league teams, brackets' winners qualify to both VC final and CCL.
Why is it considered lower division? I would think its 1st division. The canadian premiere league champ should probably get a spot.
My thinking is based on the relationship that the Puerto Rican federation (and its fledgling league) had with the now-defunct Islanders...that, and the assumption that CONCACAF will be slow to give Canada a second berth. Until that happens, I believe the CSA will continue to give priority to the Voyageurs' Cup.
Hey whats the injury report on club America.... Did Dario and moises get injured in yesterdays match vs Cruz azul?
My hopes are not high... This was the worst possible bracket for MLS as a league. In-form MLS clubs can somewhat-compete with LMX clubs; MLS clubs are not in-form yet at all. And two of the MLS CCL clubs are already a hot mess, even for preseason.
The Galaxy, who were utterly embarrassed by Seattle the other day, and RSL, who only managed two draws in the DDC and barely beat a college team earlier after a very tepid last season.
