Well, there were 40 shots today with 20 on target ;) I don't remember figures against Singapore but it was lower if I remember it well. Ball posession was 83%-17% lol

yeah but shots on target still don't tell you if a GK is good or not... just look at that Kagawa miss, or when the defenders saved on the line, etc

Honda's first goal was a decent shot but a GK messup

If you look at the result, it's true.
If you look at the display, the hell no. With Singapore Japan was a lot more dangerous than today.

With Singapore Japan knew they still had to score a goal though.

What is the main problem for their bad display?

    They rarely centered the goal.
Plus we keep passing the ball when we are 20 metres from the goal. It's unbearable. If I wanted to still see that, I'd at least hope for Zac, not Hali.

They shot almost 40 times. You can't say they did nothing but pass close to the goal.

Rewatch the game, I'm sure you'll see it.
Plus, this game is actually the demonstration of the fact that you can be close to the goal and shoot as much as you like, but 90% they were non-dangerous efforts. Beside the three goals and a miracle on Okazaki, I didn't see so much to cheer about.

They shot yes, but their first option was clearly to pass the ball, even when they shot they looked scared and hesitant and rush their shots as if they are playing a World Class GK and defenders.

If Kagawa, Okazaki and Yamaguchi tried to calm down and concentrate before taking their shots Japan would at least double their tally.

... and Vahid should start with Shibasaki instead of Yamaguchi, as we clearly need a more offensive oriented CM and we clearly don't need two defensive midfielders against such teams.

At least Shibasaki's better shooting accuracy might gave us a goal or two, any way this shows how Vahid was over-respecting the opponent and how he wasn't adventurous.

The performance was pretty bad. If the team continues to play like that ,
then Japan will certainly not reach the World Cup.

What do you want to see ? 80 shots ? To take a shot you need a minimum of preparation, ie passes. And if the shots don't work, and they didn't, you have to find another way. It certainly wasn't a matter of not shooting enough.

    You missed the point.

I didn't talk about the number of the shots, I was talking about the quality and accuracy of the shots.

If my mother had balls she would be my dad. If anyone had the ability to turn a weakness into a quality, we'd know by now.
