China are participating in this years edition of the annual Toulon Tournament. The last time China participated was in 2011 when they lost all three games in the group stage. The most memorable edition was in 2007 when they made it to the final only to lose 3-1 to hosts France. That team consisted of the Olympic Team that make up the core of our NT today. Chinas first game is on May 23rd against hosts France
No idea on the squad, but it's a U-21 tournament so i'd expect players born 1993 or 1994. Although after a quick google check it seems like the coach is Li Bing, the same coach for the U-19 squad so he might bring younger players to prepare for the U-19 Asian Championship later this year.
Results from China's group today: Mexico 0 - 2 Portugal France 3 - 0 Chile This years edition features 5 teams in each group, only 2 from each group advance to the semifinal.
Never thought AM has a Chinese player in the squad. really interesting if Xu Xin can step up to the first team
A lot of Atletico supporters think he has the potential to be a really good player. We all really hope so.
Starting XI against France (not in order): Fang Jingqi, Wang Tong, Mi Haolun, Wang Shangyuan, Yang Chaosheng, Yang Ting, Jia Tianzi, Wang Rui, Liao Junjian, Xie Pengfei, Xu Xin
Very open game from the start. Yang Chaosheng had a goal correctly ruled offside at the start. And to correct my earlier post Fu Bo is the coach for this team and not Li Bing
HT 0-0 The french players look like giants compared to the chinese players. France controlled more of the half but have a hard time creating anything dangerous. China tries to play a technical short passing game but have failed in the final third so far. It's anyones game at this point
