I think there is too much at stake here for the AFC WC qualifiers to be two match affairs. I really think FIFA/AFC need to completely overhaul the WC qualification format. We play next to no competitive games for a whole year and then wham! Two WCQs in the middle of the summer. After this, no competitive games again until EAFF tournament. Then nothing again until 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers. My idea is to divide Asia into East and West, then in the East side, with two seeds (South Korea and Japan probably), then along with the other 18 teams are divided into two groups of 10 with the winners going into the finals, while the runner's up get to take part in a play-off. Same for the west, two seeded teams (Iran and Saudi?) and two groups of about 10 each. 4 group winners go to finals, 4 runner's up play-off, winners play off whoever to go to finals. Look at CONMEBOL, they have just finished the Copa America, then they go into a two year long WCQ process. It keeps them competitive and allows the smaller countries like Venezuela and Peru to invest on coaches and training every year.
I dont know why all the members are acting as if a heavyweight team is crashed out of the qualifying. If we the match is replayed then also India wont beat UAE..Just forget it and carry on mates.
This is very foolish to say because what you are essentially implying is know lightweight teams out by substandard refreeing and not give them fair go. I would still disagree with your comment. India is more the capable of defeating UAE with 11 players on the pitch.
Does anyone know any links that work for North America that will show the draw on Saturday? Preferably in english?
