Aruba FA website report that they will play on 5. and 9. June. I got no other news about these matches. http://www.avbaruba.aw/ The match on 5. June would be the first 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier match.
The Concacaf website has changed it's dates (http://www.concacaf.com/page/WCQ/Schedule/0,,12813,00.html) but (at least on my computer) they all show up as the day before we are suggesting here. Because the schedule/results pages on the Concacaf website are just recycled soccerway pages, the "unknown time" distinction is obviously being interpreted as Midngiht CET, and so the US Eastern designations are showing up as the day before (at 6pm). There is, of course, nothing to say the soccerway page isn't just recycling the dates that have been placed on wikipedia. Such is the nature of "official" web sources. You might think you are reading the "official" date as per some CONCACAF official, when in fact you are actually just getting some idiot like me interpreting some Norwegian guy's attempted interpretation of a papiamento language newpaper report (which itself might be wrong). J
I asked FIFA . They did not have any official match dates yet , but denied that Caribbean qualifiers start this weekend.
This sort of disconnect combined with lack of both organization and information astounds me! So Aruba could be playing in Saint Lucia on Sunday, but they might not be, and if the are, it could be at any time? Amazing.
It is official when on fifa.com fixtures http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/results/index.html# They have listed now 15.6 Montserrat - Belize in Malabar and 19.6 Belize - Montserrat in Belmopan
http://www.hexagonalblog.com/2011/06/wc-2014-qualifying-cycle-kickoff.html is by blogger Howard Hamilton and titled "St. Lucia and Aruba kick off the 2014 World Cup qualifying cycle."
I've linked to another blogger who I can understand you saying that about, but the link you quoted was written by a doctor (not a doctor of medicine but somebody with a doctorate) who attends conferences about sports statistics. Back during qualifying for World Cup 2006, Planet World Cup had Peter Goldstein writing comprehensive pieces but he stopped writing after that. You can read what he had to say about CONCACAF's qualifying format for World Cup 2006 at http://www.planetworldcup.com/GUESTS/peter20031015.html. After Peter Goldstein, Hexagonal Blog is the best I've found.
Every bit of information in the article that guy wrote can be found on this site, Wikipedia, or my site. Statistics are useless when you're talking about Aruba and Saint Lucia because the only statistics to come from the matches are the results and if you're lucky the players who played. Just because someone has a Ph. D. it doesn't make them qualified to write about something they know nothing about. You might as well post a link to Goal.com.
That really has nothing to do with whether he has information on the dates of the Aruba-St. Lucia qualifier. Could Montserrat move into the second round? http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=19804
From St Lucia FA : The match is tentatively scheduled for 8th July in Aruba and 12th July in St. Lucia
A Bajan referee on Twitter just said he got selected to referee a WC2014 Qualifying match at the end of the month in Cuba.
Between what countries? Cuba isn't scheduled to start WCQs until next year. Would another country play their home game in Cuba? The only CONCACAF WCQs this month are Belize-Montserrat in Trinidad and Tobago on June 15 and in Belize in June 19.
That makes sense. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_CONCACAF_Men's_Pre-Olympic_Tournament_qualification says Cuba, Aruba, Guyana, and Puerto Rico will play a round-robin group in Cuba June 23-June 27. Those will be the first CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers for 2012.
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/newsid=1451305/index.html is titled "Minnows take marks on the road to Rio."
Belize looks like a mess: http://www.amandala.com.bz/index.php?id=11319 http://www.7newsbelize.com/index.php#story4 (not valid for much longer)
1. Why are U.S. visas necessary for other countries? 2. I think it would be bad if Montserrat advanced because Belize got suspended by FIFA. Could Montserrat afford the travel to three away games for the first Group Stage?
Presumably their flights from Belize to Trinidad required a transfer in US. Channel 5 Belize has an interview with Bertie Chimilio from yesterday where he says that some players had to go through Central America, but they have nineteen players en route to Trinidad and expect to play. http://edition.channel5belize.com/archives/55931
The qualifiers are underway and shockingly at halftime Montserrat and Belize are tied 1-1 at halftime. Here is a link with the live score http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/prelim...tches/round=258091/match=300163072/index.html
It was Montserrat's first goal since their previous WCQ in a 7:1 loss to Suriname on March 26, 2008. Before that Suriname game Montserrat's last goal was November 2, 2004 when they scored 4 but lost because Antigua and Barbuda scored 5.
