IF you want to talk about luck... ... Mexico was lucky their Daddy USA saved them in qualifying. That is luck Mexicano.
But Croatia> Portugal. They have better players and they put up a fight in every single match. Honestly, Mexico barely put a fight vs Brazil. You would NOT have beaten Germany. Anyways, you guys have your own hate thread. Move there and argue.
Oh really? You might be the only person who believes that. Portugal has 3 guys starting for them who just won the Champions League as starters, one of which just won the Balon d'or. By pretty much every measure, Portugal is a better team than Croatia.
Usa didn't play vs Coentrao or Pepe. So I ment during the games, Croatia had their best (at the time better) players than Portugal. Let's face it, Ronaldo wasn't at 100%. I'm extremely happy the US passed, but I was also glad for all the misfortunes of Portugal
Lol it looked hard on paper but it wasnt a hard group out of performance, all three of those teams under performed but thankfully because of Portugal, by playing poorly you guys made it out of the group with a tie and a loss, playing terribly lol
Which group was harder based on performance? You are just talking out of your arse now. Well , not just now. Most of your posts are garbage "lol".
our group was harder, we would of been in first place in your gruop granted Germany is no Brazil, and Brazil have been the most dangerous attack minded team I am talking out of my azz? please I am trying to bring you down to earth, you got lucky and you know it lolz
On paper the u.s. group looked harder but it did turn out to be a much more accessible group then what everyone initially thought it would be Germany did turn out to be the top team Portugal was badly outplayed for 2/3 games Ghana was a broken team but still very talented that came close to going through As for mexicos group Facing Brazil as host nation is as tough as it gets in group play Croatia was a bit like Ghana in here. Very talented team that was competitive in every match... maybe not so much in the 2nd half against Mexico Cameroon was just a mess and a candidate for worst team of the wc All in all i would say that Mexico's group was just a bit easier by simply having Cameroon in it. However, Brazil at home is the toughest opponent faced in those 2 groups lol
As for the u.s. being "lucky" to advance Nah, they played the group how it had to be played. beat ghana at any cost get a result against portugal go up against germany knowing what you need to advance Things did fall into place with germany essentially eliminated portugal in the first game but thats just how things played out.
That can't happen. The teams would meet in the quarterfinals if both progress. An all CONCACAF semifinal would either be Costa Rica vs. United States or Mexico vs. United States.
Let's just all agree that the hardest group ANY CONCACAF team had to deal with was Costa Rica's. And we spanked it like it owed us money.
When the draw was announced in December, I think it's safe to say more people would have thought CONCACAF would be mopped in the group stages like a tracked-up kitchen floor. Costa Rica had no chance to get out of its group. The way Mexico played in qualifying, they had very little chance to advance. USA had only a slim chance to get out of its group. It almost seemed like Honduras of all teams, got the most favorable draw, but look who's left from our confederation now. It's been a great tournament for CONCACAF so far, but I am reminded that all things are cyclical. For all the bagging people want to do against Asian and African teams and how they played in this World Cup, you have to remember that South Korea and Japan both made it to the knockout round in 2010. Four years ago, Ghana were the only African team to pass the group stage. This time, Africa have qualified two teams from the group stage for the first time ever. Just like 2010, Europe and South America have 6 and 5 teams left, respectively.
