Not a single home game with a day time or early evening start. Very family unfriendly. I have a little buyers remorse for buying season tickets now.

In July, August, playing in the evening is great.
In March, April however, playing in the afternoon is better.

It may be that the Dash are aiming more at the MLS audience, i.e. more "young adults" than "families with kids".

Regarding game times, as a grandparent of a U10 player and a coach of a number of U10 players, a 7:00 pm game time, on a Friday or Saturday, has not been an issue. I see lots of parents with kids in that age group at the evening games. Typically for a 7:00 pm game, we go downtown early and have dinner, then go to the game. I will confess, however, that travel times to games where I am (Portland) may be less than elsewhere -- it's hard to be more than 30 minutes from what now is Providence Park and where I live, it's 15 minutes if traffic is heavy.

But, I think it also is true that the game times need to appeal to the MLS/"young adult" group and also to the older adult group. I believe the base fan group here in Portland consists primarily of adults.

If that is the case, it would be surprising and maybe a little non-sensical because I would've thought the Dash would wish to focus on a different set of fan, ie non-MLS audience fan, in order to expand their fanbase potential. I think there is going to be only so much soccer that a MLS audience that will have the leisure time/interest to also make Dash games. I just updated my calendar and it is a very congested Spring and Summer. I love watching soccer and especially live soccer, but even I can get burned out a little.

As a Dynamo season ticket holder I purchased a Dash season ticket along with my three Dynamo season ticket colleagues to support and help grow women's sports in general, support a Houston team, and because I have two young daughters who I want to see good role models. But I, like most folks, have limited time and won't be able to justify full season tickets without better/smarter scheduling to appeal to "families with kids".

The problem to marketing to the "families with kids" demographic is that they aren't nearly as reliable for return purchases - this was part of the problem with WUSA and WPS, which both tried relying on little girls and their families showing up, something that didn't work out. The kids are going to come either way, particularly when the likes of Wambah, Solo, and Morgan come to town. The big 'problem' with WoSo attendance is drawing the "typical soccer fan", the twenty- and thirty-somethings who have the passion for the game enough to get attached to their home team and come multiple times over the course of a season. So it's not that surprising or non-nonsensical of a decision when looked at from that perspective.

Except it will struggle to work in Houston. They will likely still draw decent numbers per the rest of the league but trying to compete for the same fans as the Dynamo and the dozen other international and FML games over the same summer will be a tough road. It is made more difficult by the size of the city where most live on the edges and 45 to 60 minute drives are not uncommon. I am only an anecdotal example but am one of two families on my street with daughters that had planned on season tickets. Neither of us can make 7 and 8 pm times work for our kids.

    Fair comments.

Not saying that Dash need to solely market to "families with kids", but they should at least be cognizant that having zero daytime/earlier start times stifles the opportunity for a probable sizable percentage of a potentially large fan base here in a large metro area unlike other much smaller market location in the previous WUSA/WPS leagues.

Did you factor in that if the Dash are trying to win over MLS audience if they are successful that it may take away from the Dynamo audience and spread it to the Dash, not create new audience. Don't want to diss the guys, but my feeling is that most regular MLS fan guys are not very supportive of the the women's leagues. Even if they are soccer.

Well said. I agree competing for a "four hour night out" with other soccer in the city will be tough and I think they may miss a shot at a slightly different fan base.

But that is not exactly the case because as it stands right now, I'm not aware of any double headers so it's more a case of soccer every weekend. Which if you think about it is better because for those Dynamo fans that go through withdrawal when their team is on the road, they can easily see the Dash playing at home.

Yeah most normal folks have other things to do as well and parents that can't have kids out until eleven are stuck forking over another 40 bucks a game for babysitting. We head downtown for 22 or more games a year already was just hoping if we were going to head down anymore it would be a family event. As it stands we might go to one or two games.

They do have at least one double header.

The only double header is a preseason game for the Dash. That's the game on April 5.

I have not seen any info on tickets for the exhibition games. I wonder if they just sell them at the gates ?
I am talking about games at HASP.

The Dynamo/Dash FO can do nothing right in many fans eyes. We are known for complaining in Houston.

When I go to the Dynamo matches, I park near the Astrodome. I leave the game when it's ending; walk to my vehicle; fight the traffic that a Dynamo sized crowd produces; and am usually pulling into my nice suburban street north of Houston as the post game show is ending. The Dash traffic will be substantially lighter I assume.

The kids will still be in bed before midnight, and will have enjoyed cooler temperatures. They will ave been able to see their women soccer heroes, and you only lose an hour of time in comparison to the men's game, which the lower temperatures can make up for.

    EDIT*
Obviously I don't park near the Astrodome. I meant Minute Maid Park, where the Astros play.

Yes, there isn't any seating. Bring chairs, and sun protection if it suits you.

Please send the team to Southern Cal. The USNT plays an 8pm game against China. My niece and I have no problem with that type of schedule if a NWSL franchise is placed here.
