I bet Leano and Borja be like... we've invested money for the pre-pre libertadores and to the Venezuela Federation (pre-libertadores) so that Compean and Decio could ******** it all up by spreading their cheeks to Concacaf?? But then again according to some posters they prefer winning the Mexican league which has been watered down in quality for the last 3-4 years.. Minnows gonna minnow
BS red, no montero. still, yayo is an idiot for leaving riascos on the field for so long, subbing in guzman in the 89th minute, wtf. all part of that nestor plan i bet
Día negro para los 3 aficionados del Morelia en todo el país . Por cierto le auguro mal desempeño al Santos con ese medio campo inexistente, por algo Peralta lleva 5 partidos sin anotar.
One down, one to go. Leon on the other hand, have a decent chance of advancing out of the group stage.
I dunno. I feel that Mexican clubs get such a hard bias towards them, not so much in the group phase but more in the knock-out rounds. They dont ever wanna see a Mexican club win their tournament and i feel that the refs will do everything in their power to see that never happens.
...and if ever the refs don't get the job done, Figueredo and co. can always pull the "by the way, away goals actually counted" trick if it helps eliminate a Mexican team in the final.
That shit was ridiculous. I agree with Manny. How bad would that confederation look internationally if an invitee wins their most prestigious tournament? Chafa ass Copa Sudamericana is one thing, but Libertadores is another. They add little wrinkles to favor their teams, like not allowing Mexican teams to close at home if they get to the final, which we know makes a huge difference. It ********ing sucks, but I guess it's still better than the CONCACAF Champions League.
While i do agree that there is some bias against mex teams, bias is not what has caused mexican teams to slip in form in this competition There is now a pattern of the 3rd mex team failing to get into the group stage
I was going to say that the CCL pulling four Mexican teams out of consideration for the Libertadores (as opposed to only two in the Champions Cup days) could be the culprit, but: the Concachampions begins in August, rather than at the start of the calendar year, allowing the best teams in the Apertura (not involved in the ongoing CCL) to play in the Libertadores - see: Monterrey in 2010, Tijuana last year, León in this edition.
yeah, there is the potential to have the best team, even the champion to play, but there is also the possibility for the 6th place team to play, like morelia finished last season. going against a team that was recently champion in colombia and finished in the semi-finals of last year's copa libertadores is always going to be difficult for a team that finishes 6th in the league in the liga mx. i would hardly expect a team like everton to compete against a UEFA champions semi-finalist and recent league champion like real madrid, i suppose it was excepting a lot for morelia to do the same. on the other hand, mexican teams just aren't consistent enough though. i mean, toluca made it to the final one season, couldn't make it out of the group stage of libertadores the season after that, then made it to the semi-finals again last season and are doing well this season. leon also had a great first season, flopped in the league in the libertadores, then won the championship. and again are struggling. i don't undrestand why its so difficult to maintain form over such a small winter break in between seasons for some of these teams.
