Australia just scraps passed Indonesia. They outplayed us for significant portions of the game... On occasions we did have openings going forward only to go square or backwards. It took a lovely through ball by Daniel De Silva to unlock the Indonesian defence for Jaushua Sotirio to score.

Was shocking to see the boys time wasting at the end. Paul Okon (manager) can GTFO. Also, the only positive is Daniel De Silva out of these useless individual twats.

I know how Indonesian feels after this lost. This squad are really talented and world class team just like their media said.

Match was played on ridiculous conditions. Obviously Okon's instructions were to limit movement in the first half to conserve energy. Surely you noticed the increased tempo in the second half? You seem to be upset thay Okon actually had tactics for this match.

    Japan 6, China 5, Korea 4, Vietnam 1.

Japan and China qualified to the next round. What a surprise, Korea can not got to WC this time.

Japan couldn't make it to the U17 WC, South Korea not to the U20 WC.

Anything can happen in these age groups

Our best player Sherko Kareem (2013 Arab u17 Championship MVP & Top Scorer) has been just kicked out from our Team and he will be sent back to Baghdad by our Coach and FA members because his foolish acts. He thinks that he is the best player in the team and he shall not stay on bench and that no one in Iraq in the same par as his talent.
In our Match against Qatar our coach needed to sub him in but he couldnt find him anywhere, Sherko Kareem just left the team just like that and sat among the crowds.

What a shame and waste of talent. He is considered one of the best of our youth if not the best among them. He got cocky and honestly he deserves to be sent back to Iraq

What a shame.. Hope that if we qualify to the U-20 WC, he will take part in that squad.

No it would have been risky to play flat out from the beginning. We did this in Vietnam during the ASEAN U19 Cup. Once we failed to score from numerous early attempts the lads ran out of energy and in the second half the Viet lads smashed us. The tactics actually showed a great deal of sense, for both temperature concerns and the short turn around between games. The problem with these tactics is it goes against the Aussie temperament to play this way and thus the players struggled with implementing Okon's plan.

You can ask a team to control their energy levels but not to play slow in the first half, if you go behind and chase the score all game, sometimes you never catch up.

I think we are getting into semantics here, we seem to agree that energy should be conserved, just disagree on how this should be achieved (not sure how u conserve energy without limiting movement). Congratulations on Japan making the quarters

And now Iraq is also out... :speechless:

So weird how things paralleled with the two finalists from the last tournament, SK and Iraq. Both win their first games 6-0, tie the second game they probably should have grabbed then lose in the third and gets knocked out, 1-1-1 with +5 GD... not often we see that o_O It was even harder luck for Iraq actually, with the tiebreaker being head-to-head record, when GD wise they had the edge over NK...

But that's football I guess, not getting the job done in the game that mattered the most. Moreso at this age group, as you said.

North Korea is dominating the youth tournaments while their senior team is struggling hard in friendlies let alone tournaments. Yemen beating Iran?

    I don't take it serious..

...this is surely one weird U-19 tourney this year.

I hope that Uzbekistan wins the tournament. I don't like Qatar, Myanmar is lucky to be there, and North Korea are a bunch of cheaters (they overperform at youth level only to struggle at senior level. Too clear for me).
