Kicker's list of the top defensive midfielders so far this year specifically mentions Hasebe's absence from the list, saying that he gets a "sniff" of the rankings but wasn't quite influential enough.
That's Kicker failing again for me. Hasebe has been very instrumental in balancing the otherwise out and out offensive oriented play of Eintracht under Schaaf. But it's no news that such kind of roles tend to be underrated.
