Phillies 2013 - at least we are better than the Marlins. 6-9 record after tonights 2 losses to the Reds. So far after 15 games: Positive trends: Utley is not injured and has above average OPS, M. Young is pretty good considering the circumstances, Lee, Adams, Bastardo and Kendrick are good. Negative trends: Doc, lead off hitter with .250 OBP , Valdes, Horst, Durbin, Kratz, Papelbon's velocity, lineup full of undisciplined strike out hacks, Howard against lefties, Lannan in a Phillies uniform and Delmon Young soon ready to play.
Should be chasing the Phillies hitters with that taser. That t-shirt seems like so long time ago. Revere from last night:
4-3 loss to Cards. bot 9th inning; Revere singles Kratz singles (Revere to 3rd). OK you think, runner on 3rd base and no out, surely the Phillies will at least tie the game. Think again. Frandsen grounds out to SS on 1st pitch (he is throwing me a fastball right? No.), and Jimmy the swinging donkey Rollins strikes out swinging for fastballs several times while getting only splitters from Mujica.
Actually, if you follow the Cardinals, you'd expect the Phillies to win the game for sure. They're pretty shaky w/o Motte.
Boggs is like 2 out of 4 in save situations, but you don't need an elite closer to down Phillies. You need a pitcher with a decent off speed pitch who can use the Phillies' hitters aggressiveness to his own advantage, making them go after his pitches. It seems so much easier to get the Phils hitters do to that then the average MLB team. With the teams current GM it's no wonder. 8-2 win over Cards game called after 7 innings due to rain. Doc looked excellent. Ty "the butcher" Wiggington's "throw" to first base in 1 st inning was hilarious. If you play that guy 3rd base, you're begging for fielding blunders. 2 years and 5m contract, really Cards?
9-14 record. Series against Mets start tonight. Phillies got to Gee last time, however, Phillies hitters are easier to read than a children's book. Note to all opposing pitchers; do not throw fastball when behind in the count, throw a ton of breaking balls outside low all day = success.
16-18 record. First they get mauled over by the Marlins in the last 2 games of the series, ending in a series tie and then go to SF and win 2. Phillies are just vicious giving fans false hopes. Delmon Young is horrible (who'd have thought.. not Amaro)
20-23 Endured a classic Phillies game with 10-0 loss to Reds where the main objective was to swing at as many balls outside the strike zone as possible. Phillies won the challenge, obviously. Halladay surgery announced earlier this week and I think he's likely done in a Phillies uniform Highlight of the game; Delmon Young playing defense in RF http://postimg.org/image/8pi7ipxf7/
21-23 Won series against Reds with a 3-2 win yesterday by having your two bottom of the order hitters go back to back yard on Chapman in the 9th. The Cuban missile that servers the flat fastballs right over the plate.
51-61 with 50 games to go...season mind as well be over now. Team is horrible and the GM is even worse. Trade deadline passed, Phillies did not make a sound. Amaro is the worst GM in baseball and its not even close. Not even players like M Young he could trade for a bucket of balls. We have guys like McDonald and Martinez on the 40 man roster - oh well there is always next season for the deluded ownership group and the GM who is as qualified at this position at his was playing ball, to think the Phillies in their current state will make a "run" for it again. Meanwhile Charlie can take the blame for Amaro handing him that awful roster to make a play off run.
