http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Islamic_Solidarity_Games "The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games is an international sporting event scheduled to be held in Pekanbaru, Indonesia.[1] The 2009 event, originally scheduled to take place in Iran, and later re-scheduled for April 2010, was canceled after a dispute arose between Iran and the Arab countries." That's Islamic SOLIDARITY for you hahahah.
ISG 2013 will be held Sep 22 - Oct 1... Participating nations include.. No news yet in relation to football.. The ISG`s participating countries include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Bahrain, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Palestine, Kuwait, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Oman, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Tunisia, Guinea, Congo, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Somalia.
Question: Are nations that have observer status allowed to compete? Would be great if nations such as Bosnia, Russia and Thailand competed with players of Muslim orgin
How? I find this odd because you have to be a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation don't you? Some nations have tried joining but for whatever reason haven't been accepted. But I can understand nations that are observers taking part - these observing nations do have Muslim areas of the country.
France aren't members, not even observing members. But if they were observing members, then I can't see why they couldn't participate with a Muslim origin squad.
Although slightly off the 2013 trail, the 2017 edition will apparently be held in Baku, Azerbaijan. I'm already looking forward to see how Asian nations would fair other there http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/ba...g-bid.aspx?pageID=238&nid=51561&NewsCatID=371
