I actually feel bad for Raja despite knowing how embarrassing losing would have been for South American football.
Being brutally honest, the 2013 Libertadores was one of the weakest ever. Galo beat a weak Olimpia in the final in penalties, not to mention they only got through Tijuana (a team that was already declining) thanks to the away-goal rule. The other semifinalists were nothing special: Ñuls, and Independiente Santa Fé, all teams with severe limitations. Can't compare to the 2012 edition. Matter of fact, very few players of the 2013 version ended up in Europe after the tournament. And it wasn't just that the salaries got better in Brazil, but just that the great quality wasn't there.
Ronaldinho is really out of shape. Even by his standards. Clearly not enough time to get back from his injury.
The edition Santos won was pretty weak as well. Because Santos was nothing special other than Neymar.
If Atlético Mineiro wins this match in regulation, I predict it will be Jô who scores the game-winner.
At least that Peñarol in the final had Pelado Rodríguez. It was a much superior final, all things considered. Olimpia had almost nothing.
I consider the 2011 Vélez Sarsfield to have been superior to the Peñarol team it defeated. Granted, Peñarol came back from behind against a very good Internacional team, but in terms of talent, it was a better side. Peñarol won basically because it gained a meager but just 1-0 margin at home and because Santiago Silva choked precisely when he absolutely should not have. Iajour with a shot that goes wide.
Raja looking confident again. And to think they have a new coach and looked shaky against Auckland. How quickly things change.
Penalty kick for Raja Casablanca. EDIT: the Casablanca player dived and the referee fell for it. And Raja is now up 2-1.
The replay shows Réver did not touch the Raja player; and, the Raja player acted as if struck by an invisible punch mid-air. Unfortunately, the Spaniard referee thought it was a foul in the box.
In the Manchester City forums, when they criticize a new player they got, they say: "hope he won't be another Jo." That's how bad he is. He's become a paragon for selfish, lousy striker.
Fitting that AM go out on a penalty that shouldn't have been a penalty, because they're only here due to a penalty save (actually more than one) which should have been retaken.
Poor guy, Galo Vingador. But they were playing with 9, Dinho did basically nothing but flop most of the game, and Jo is a waste of air.
