I see a few guys they got decent deals on (Nguyen is making even less than his initially reported salary, White is making league minimum, Runstrom is under six figures, they didn't pay an outlandish figure for Moreno). Lozano at $240k is the headscratcher contract, and Sene, given he was pretty unproven coming in, getting $150k is very surprising.

Reis really should be making more than he is, also - that he's constantly in the middle of the pack of salaries despite the fact he's been here so long speaks volumes about him as a team player.

Here's the same list from highest paid to lowest paid.
Takaways: Sene, Moreno, and Cardenas are pretty reasonable, I think. Ryan Guy and Lee Nguyen are absolute STEALS. Lozano needs a LOT more PT to justify that salary.

Also, for a veteran of the 2-BL/Bundesliga, Lechner at $44k is a crazy steal.

Would've mentioned him as well, but we need to see if he actually plays... right now his salary seems just about right in terms of his playing time.

He likely had no other options.

Lozano was brought in as an experienced lock starter. If he can't beat out McCarthy, he's as good as gone.

Lee Nguyen at $44K is absurd.
Nyassi getting $90K ? He should show up to every day in a balaclava.
Lozano better get the lead out of his ass for that kind of money and quite frankly
Shalrie, who I LOVE as a player and captain, is the most overpaid player in the league.

This statement no where near close IMO. Here are the top 25 salaries in the league. There are a bunch of laughers in here much worse than Sharlrie. Hell, Toronto had 3 of the top 9 paid players in the league alone.

Here are the top 25 salaries in the league. Toronto has three of the top 9 highest paid players.

IMO, Marquez, DeGuzman and Boyd are all significantly worse contracts than Shalrie's is.

Lee 's former a USMNT player and I know he is new to MLS, but his salary is way too little. I hope he 'll stay w the Revs next season. Same for Ryan Guy who has tons of experiences, but he gets underpaid. I mean if we compare to NBA, NFL, MLB minimum wages that tells us why there is few people play soccer in US.

That doesn't change the fact he sucks and shouldn't be in the MLS.

Overall our roster is doing alright in terms of money for quality. I would argue all 3 of our top earners are underperforming, but we have underpaid guys too like Nguyen, Simms, and Sene if he keeps scoring goals at this rate.

Lee was playing in Vietnam against semi-pro players in a terrible league. Although he was the highest paid and most popular player over there, he didn't really have much bargaining power until he actually proved himself in MLS. His club history has been poor up to this year.

And comparing minimum MLS wages to NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB is just silly at this point in their histories. The other leagues have huge national and local television contracts. And MLS is still a league where Chad Barrett can make $253,000. Chad freaking Barrett!

I absolutely agree with you, however, you have to agree with me that there are quite a number of players of the Revs roster in particular have not actually proved themselves yet in MLS to receive from 100K to 250K compare to 40K that Lee and Guy earns. I am not saying that they get overpay or something, but IMO 100K to 250K is made more sense to me. I feel sorry for the guys and I hope they both deserve bonuses at the end of the season inluding Simms.

If Cardenas scores, can we throw 4 dollars on the field so that he can make 6 figures?

Thank you guys for doing the number crunching. Not to be nit-picky. A little slip of the fingers when you were ordering the teams. If Columbus is 3,325,609.00 and we're 3,262,591.54 then we should be in 13th place spending-wise.

    19) HOUSTON DYNAMO $ 3,001,091.87
    18) MONTREAL IMPACT $ 3,025,864.92
    17) CHICAGO FIRE $ 3,061,730.66

Nguyen and Guy definitely need raises... but Clyde Simms is a real bargain too. $75K for our best midfielder.

Lozano must be one of the highest paid bench warmers in the league. I see this as a terrible mis-allocation of funds. Play him or cut him lose. 241k for a player that does not see times should be better spent on a starter. With Barnes and Shalrie able to play CB in a pinch I'd be surprised if he is still with the team come July.

Exactly, Lozano has proven without a doubt he is no better than a 2nd year draftee, in McCarthy.

Cardenas is not worth 100k and Runstrom is not worth 70k. Lots of wasted salary on this team with some bargains (Simms should be paid more).

Also, Benny is not worth his $400k salary - he's making almost 10x what Nguyen is paid. Come July if he still sucks, I hope they cut Lozano and trade Benny to reallocate the money elsewhere.

Not necessarily. Could be that Heaps likes the way McCarthy is playing and has adopted something of an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. How many goals has McCarthy been "responsible" for of late? You could point to the Carmago goal against Houston, but other than that... nothing springs to mind for me. (...could be wrong about this. Working from memory.)

Vehemently disagree in regards to Feilhaber. Benny was just about the best midfielder in MLS the last half of 2011. He's off to an underwhelming start to 2012. You don't just dump him if he's struggling. Talk about buying high and selling low.
