July 3rd is kickoff for Champions League. First round Preview http://realfootball77.blogspot.com/2012/06/2012-champions-league-first-round.html
Welcome. Not too many people are interested in the first two qualifying rounds and I'm happy you are. Where are you getting your club rankings from? For the six clubs in Qualifying Round 1, here is the rank you gave for them followed by the rank http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2012.html has for them: Valletta: 322, 303 Lusitanos (not Lusitans): 429, Tied for 392 F91 Dudelange: 317, 298 Tre Penne: 421, 386 Linfield: 315, 296 B36 Torshavn: 434, Tied for 394 The ratings I linked to have only 396 clubs listed and you have rankings higher than 396. Also note that there are clubs that don't have a ranking because they haven't been in a UEFA competition in the last five seasons but are still better than some of the listed clubs. In the rankings I linked to, the best club of the six, Linfield, had a worse coefficient than the minimum coefficient for any club from a majority of the countries in UEFA (28 out of 53).
Does anyone know how to watch the first qualifying rounds in the US? I know directv has champions league games but im not sure which ones they will have. Ive been looking and they dont have the first round.
I don't think anything will be on TV until Qualifying Round 4 (Playoff Round). You can look for online streams. I've found streams of Qualifying Round 2 games in previous seasons. Today's results were: F91 Dudelane 7:0 Tre Penne Valletta 8:0 Lusitanos Linfield 0:0 B36 Torshavn
here you can watch F91 Dudelange-Tre Penne highlights. http://www.smtvsanmarino.sm/sport/default.asp?id=34&id_n=74916
Today's Qualifying Round 1 results: Tre Penne 0:4 F91 Dudelange (Luxembourg) (0:11 aggregate) Lusitanos (Andorra) 0:1 Valletta (Malta) (0:9 aggregate) Linfield Belfast (Northern Ireland) 0:0 B36 Torshavn (after 210 minutes including extra time nobody scored and Linfield Belfast won penalty kicks 4:3) In Qualifying Round 2: F91 Dudelange will host Leg 1 against Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) Valletta will host Leg 1 against Partizan (Serbia) Linfield Belfast will host Leg 2 against AEL Limassol (Cyprus)
Today's surprise so far was host F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg's 1:0 win over Salzburg of Austria. HJK Helsinki had an easy time in a 7:0 win over KR Reykjavik.
BATE Borisov of Belarus scored 2 goals in stoppage time at home for a 3:2 win over Vardar of Macedonia. It was a similar ending to Manchester City's win over Queens Park Rangers on the last Premier League matchday. Tomorrow is the draw for Qualifying Round 3.
F91 Dudelange just advanced on away goals 4-4. Slovan Liberec and Molde have also advanced to the 3rd qualifying round.
I'm rooting for Israeli champions Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona, who advanced with 2:0 win over MSK Zilina to win the aggregate 2:1. Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona will next play Neftchi Baku of Azerbaijan.
