That is very good idea! I love it! That way teams don't have to travel so much and makes sense. You should send it over to the NPSL.

The only problem I see is, there are 4 San Diego teams and NPSL has rules on how many can be in one spot. If Tiburones would slip into Orange county that would help. The OC need a team.

It certainly helps that "the North" got a new team in Eureka - although Eureka is a drive for most of the other teams in the North, it is certainly a lot closer than San Diego or LA. If the So. Oregon Fuego come back, I could see a nice road trip to the far north end of the state.
It would be even better if Chico came back in...and another team from the Bay Area or Sac Area.

What are the rules specifically? Because Tiburones are going to be nearly 40 miles north of SD Flash who are 20 miles north of SD Boca. They're all in "San Diego County" but all 3 teams are quite spread out. And presumably if the Xolos do field an U23 team they'll be in the south bay area closer to TJ.

the population in San Diego can support it, they are far enough apart,
But the split in three, does sound doable. If all teams get in but TJ most likely won't, and Southern Oregon I heard was shaky and any rumors on Sacramento after the passing of the ownership last year??

So you don't think TJ gets in if they don't buy out Boca?

The latest I heard is that they are now going to form their own Latino League operating in some of the cities in the Western Conference, putting teams in 10-12 Latino cities in the Southwest, starting in May 2012.

I see two problems with that. First, the biggie is it seems to defeat the purpose of why they wanted to come across the border in the first place. They've already got Mexican and Mexican/American fans in the US. Their goal was to try and get beyond the Mexican immigrant community initially, forming a "Latino League" will not do that and will just appeal to people who already do or would root for the mother team. Two, if they were balking at the price of a PDL team, they're going to choke on the price to form their own league.

Yep - it looks like the SF Stompers are going to be in a "play-in" tournament with the other NPSL Western Conference - North teams to determine the US Open Cup participant - I read it somewhere but can't seem to now find the link...however they are not listed on the NPSL website - not yet anyway...

And I believe that the play-in rounds are supposed to start in March...with the winner to play another play-in game against a USASA team

The Western 'play in' will include teams from both the North and South to earn the .5th NPSL spot(out of 6.5) and will play the sole US Club Soccer team to qualify for the 1st round of the tournament proper.

The play in 'mini tourney' will be played in March.

SW - that is what I read - and as I recall, the West conference - North had two groups of three teams (including the SF Stompers and the North Coast Tsunami - two new teams to the conference this year) and the West conference - South also had two groups - but the SD Flash had already qualified for winning the conference last year (actually, the Hollywood team won the conference, but since they are not to be found this year, the runner up SD Flash get the auto-qualification)...

I can't seem to find the article I read...sorry about that...but the gist of my earlier post was that there are at least four new teams in the Western Conference:
    SF Stompers
    NC Tsunami
    Fullerton Rangers
    and Phoenix Monsoon

But the NPSL website has nothing on the Stompers club...???
Good work Polloloco on digging up some info on this club...

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Southern California Sports Club (San Bernardino, CA) has joined the league as an expansion team. The club will compete in the West Region’s Southwest Conference.
“We are thrilled to have a team in the San Bernardino area,” NPSL Chairman Joe Barone commented. “The West Region has experienced massive growth this offseason and this addition will be welcomed by our fans and supporters. We are expecting big things from this ownership group thanks to their incredible credentials and international network.”
Home matches will take place at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex (SBSC), a 47-acre facility with 17 top-quality playing fields and countless amenities. The complex has served as the site for the USYSA Regional Championship as well as headquarters for state and national cups, the Tide Cup, and Olympic Development Program training.
SoCal SC will be led by Dave Elmore and Daniel Gamba.
Elmore founded the Elmore Sports Group in 1969 as a vehicle for sports entertainment. Since 1991, he has served on the Joint Committee of the National Association of Professional Baseball, working with other owners to find solutions that plague minor and major league teams. Baseball America has hailed Elmore as a unique leader among minor league team owners.
Gamba, who serves as the CEO of the Professional Sports Network, has been diligently related to the soccer world at a personal level since childhood, having played for several youth clubs of professional teams in Brazil and Argentina and at the collegiate level in the United States. For the past 12 years he has been involved professionally at a management level.
“We are looking forward to bringing top-level professional soccer to the Inland Empire region, starting a new local legacy in terms of player development,” Gamba added. “With our global approach, we will be adding a South American flavor to the local talented pool of players, putting together an elite program for young athletes seeking for an opportunity to showcase their skills. Our main focus will be on player development, applying a similar training methodology and philosophy used at top clubs in countries like Brazil and Argentina.”
Over the last 30 years, the Elmore Sports Group has owned and operated a variety of minor league sports franchises across the United States, from baseball to hockey to soccer and even arena football. Although the Elmore Sports Group focus have been mainly in baseball, the group has formed a partnership with Daniel Gamba so they can collectively explore key opportunities in soccer. The Southern California Sports Club (SCSC) is a product of this partnership and the second team that they will own together. Furthermore, the group is seeking to strengthen its over 20 years of ties with the local Inland Empire community as the Elmore Sports Group already owns a class A minor league baseball team in the region, being the operator of the local stadium as well.
“Our club is located in the center of one of the richest diverse zones in the United States and within the heart of the Hispanic/Latino community: the city of San Bernardino,” Gamba added. “There wouldn’t be a better place to start our project other than at a league like the NPSL, which provides all the necessary tools and opportunities for clubs like ours to start our journey in professional sports.”
More information about SCSC can be found at www.TheSoCalSports.Clubor by following them on Twitter (@TheSoCalSC), Instagram (@TheSoCalSC), and Facebook (www.facebook.com/TheSoCalSC).

There’s no better way to learn about a team, then to talk to the owner himself. Check out what Brandon Jantz, owner of Temecula FC has to say about his Southern California NPSL Team.

CD Aguiluchos USA has announced that they will be playing at least part of their 2017 NPSL season in Mendota, CA at Mendota High School. They want to test the fan base there for a potential move to California’s Central Valley full time. Mendota is in the Central Valley in Fresno County between Interstate 5 and California State Highway 99, about 40 minutes west of Fresno, CA.
Aguiluchos USA’s owner Rodger Amaya has stated that his plan is to play half of the 2017 NPSL season in Mendota, and continue to play half of their home schedule in Oakland, the home they have held since the team was founded in 2012.

SoCal SC launched in NPSL earlier this year, playing out of San Bernardino. Their debut was somewhat muted, mainly in respect to the terror attack and tragedy that affected the community the exact same date the team was officially announced. They look to build on an initial season that saw one of the goals of the club, spotlighting local talent, come to fruition in the form of two players signing with Toluca FC of Liga MX. SoCal SC has ambitions to grow into a force not just in the Inland Empire, but in Southern California in general. Perhaps one day that will play professional soccer in a higher league, and despite having held exploratory talks with other leagues, Gamba feels the business model at a higher level would not make sense for SoCal SC today.
