Re: 2011 China National Olympics Team

i dunno if the squad has been announced yet:
this is the most recent news (in chinese)
    http://sports.163.com/11/0511/07/73OO7KOJ00051C89.html

the news didn't offer a complete list of players, it just mentioned the training was consisted of 27 players, and four of them are oversea players:

    - Liu Binbin (FC Metz/France)
    - Zhang Qi (FC Metz/France)
    - Xue Pangfei (FC Metz/France)
    - Guo Yi (Boavista FC/Portugal)
    - Tong Le (Beijing Guoan/China)
    - Wang Shangyuan (Beijing Sangao/China)

the news also mentioned Shandong Luneng sent seven players to the training.

seriously, good question, i dunno at all o__o
the only news i get is the chinese media
and they havn't mention any particular names that i should pay attention to or could be compared to japanese prodigy ryo miyaichi lol.

i realize there is an uyghur in the team, his name is Aishan Wutikuer, and he is the captain of the team.

it mentions the chinese team is fielding an overage player
and the cfa failed to spot the error, citing "when players are over 16 year old, we could not determine the actual age by bone testing. this is because their bones are already formed and the bone testing method would give us inaccurate result".

Pei Shuai scores China´s first goal with a powerful FK right outside the box, very similar to Chen Tao´s beautiful FK in 2007

Nice but overall this was a disastrous tournament by China. Can't believe they were in the final a couple of years ago.

The differences in the team from this edition and the 2007 edition are many, one huge factor i´d say was that this was a pure U-18 squad whereas the 2007 team was our olympic team, who at that time was an U-22 team (overage because Toulon is usually an U-21 cup)
Another one is that this team lacked a playmaker, one who could distribute the ball as well as Chen Tao did in 2007.
I could keep on rambling but i think these two reasons are the biggest....

    China 1-2 Mexico FT

    - as puckodum mentioned, pei shuai scored a free kick to put china on top first
    - mexico won a penalty, later received a red card, and scored the winning goal despite playing with 10 men
    - china rotated its goalkeeper, but failed to prevent the mexicans from scoring
    - with three lost and nine goals conceded, this is the worst result ever in the Toulon Tournament
