It would be neat if there was a pro rugby league here that used MLS stadiums. They're probably way too big, though.

Did Mike Hercus retire? What's the deal with him not being on the team?

Having a pro league playing in MLS stadiums is a real possibility in the future. I know Nigel Melville has already approached the MLS about this. Also KC Blues are under the Sporting KC umbrella and Utah Warrors have looked into playing at Rio Tinto. There are a variety of things that have happened to suggest this will eventually happen. However we are probably closer to having a professional 7s series as Williiam Tatham Jr. group has been working on this for a while now.

As far as Hercus I believe he still plays in Oz, but must have retired from international rugby. Either that or he doesn't get along with EOS.

I watched a torrent of the US game but was curious as to how NBC's presentation was. Basically, how often did they interrupt the run of play to show a commercial? Just curious with them pulling in MLS next year and everything.

I don't think they interrupted play at all for commercials.

    Todays games include

Samoa v Namibia - Expect Samoa to win with a bit of ease (about to start now)
Canada v Tonga - Tonga will probably win but Canada could give Tonga a good game
Scotland v Geogia - Scotland will win this quite comfortably

My picks are Samoa, Canada and Scotland. Also if Namibia play like they did against Fiji and Georgia bring their A game, especially their scrum these could be close games.

Tonga/Canada looking like Ireland/USA early. Tonga just waltzing down the field but Canada staying strong in their own 22.

Wow! Canada looks the far better side so far. Hell of a try! A bit of a sharp angled conversion, but made nonetheless. 7-0 Canada after 14 minutes.

Thanks very much for the offer. It is 06:30am in London right now and I just arrived at work. However, I did taped all the matches to watch later.

Tonga finally break through with a late first half try. 10-7 Canada at the half.

Just curious, how big of a deal is the world cup in the UK?

It's quite big alright since it's the 2nd most popular sport after football. All games are on tv and the vast majority of them are on terrestrial tv.

Canada doing ok and lead 10-7 at half time.

I figured it was pretty popular. The only exposure I get to the sports scene in the UK is Sky Sports News a few times a week. I did see them talk a bit about it when it was on earlier, but the bulk of the coverage was for the Champions League.

It will be interesting to see if Canada can keep this up for the rest of the game.

It is not as big as the soccer world cup but it is pretty big! All the games are on ItV which is a free to air channel.

The British Isles has one of the richest rugby histories around! 6 Nations Rugby, Babarians, Lions, Premiership Rugby, RaboDirect Pro 12......the list goes on!

I guess it just shows you the gulf between these two and the All Blacks. They beat this Tongan team by 31 points.
