GROUP 1 Argentina Bolivia Ecuador (hosts) Peru Venezuela Matches in Latacunga, Ambato and Riobamba GROUP 2 Brazil Chile Colombia Paraguay Uruguay Matches in Loja, Cuenca and Azogues http://www.afa.org.ar/index.php?opt...&catid=173:seleccion-mayor-femenina&Itemid=89
Well, it does mean you don't have to meet them in the semis - which is a boon. J (KnK reference there obviously)
Fixtures are out: Hidden at the back of this: http://img.mazimou.com:90/3749/documents/354.pdf or look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Sudamericano_Femenino J
The lists of fixtures conflict with the tables in the wikipedia entry (and the tables in first post in this thread). The fixtures have Venezuela in Brazil's group and Chile in Argentina's group.
Here the groups : A)Argentina-Bolovia-Ecuador-Peru -Chile B) Brazil-Paraguay-Colombia-Uruguay-Venezuela Very bad draw for Venezuela. Venezuela is champion of the CAC ( Central American and Caribbean games) , Venezuela qualified for the U-17 world cup in Trinidad Tobago. We must face in our first game Brazil, two days later Paraguay, then Colombia and finally Uruguay. the last match of the group is Uruguay -Colombia and Brazil-Paraguay . So Venezuela does not have previosly a rest day ! and won t play in the last day... What a bad draw. ! Colombia was fanstastic in U-20 WC, Brazil is a super power IN South America. Paraguay do usually and is hard to beat. Uruguay is maybe the weak in this group. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
http://www.conmebol.com/conmebol/womenFootballNews.html?viewpage='full' Tournament dates moved. New dates are 4th-21st November. Order of matches remains the same, but all matches are put back by one week.
On seconds thoughts, based on choosing the worst team in South American women's football - even if you do have something to say, don't say it!
Brazilian roster for the qualifiers: GK: Andréia Suntaque (Santos FC), Thais (CBF) DF: Aline Pellegrino (Santos FC), Renata Costa, Andréia Rosa (Ferroviária), Marina (Novo Mundo), Janaina (Santos FC), Maurine (Santos FC), Rosana (Sky Blue), Leah (Texas University), Rafaelle (São Francisco do Conde) MF: Formiga (Chicago Red Stars), Ester (Santos FC), Gabriela (Quickstrike FC), Fabiana (Boston Breakers), Indiamara (Portuguesa), Stephane (CBF), Daiane Moretti (Foz do Iguaçu) FW: Marta (FC Gold Pride), Cristiane (Santos FC), Erika (Foz do Iguaçu), Grazielle (Santos FC), Daiane (Novo Mundo), Daniele (Volta Redonda)
Here's a video I edited with some saves made by Christiane Endler while playing for Chile last January (she was only 18 years at the time). She's easily the top goalkeeper in South America and imho already is one of the best in the world. Although the Chilean national team is kinda weak, a player with so much potential deserves to be in the World Cup, so hopefully she will be able to carry them through the qualifiers. What can I say? I really enjoyed playing with the video editor. So, here's the definitive version (be sure to watch it loud). [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9qE_tJrPuQ"]YouTube - Christiane Endler - Version 2.0[/ame]
Whatever happened with Francielle? She was a very promising player for Sky Blue FC in year one before she was let go. Also, I'm assuming Maycon and Tania are retired? Has Daniela not recovered after her serious knee injury?
Francielle plays for Santos FC and is currently injured, that's why she wasn't called. Maycon and Tania still play for clubs, but not for the national team anymore. As far as I know, Daniela only played a few minutes with W-League's Hampton Roads Piranhas since she suffered her knee injury (Wambach practically ruined her career).
And Chile had a Hurst-goal (an anti-Lampard to newer viewers) Video highlights, unfortunately preceded by a lot of old blokes in suits: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH_p0SMNaW8&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - Copa America 2010, ECUADOR 1 vs. CHILE 2[/ame] the Bolivian GK is tiny. Unfortunately Chile's last goal is not included.
All three of Colombia's goalscorers -- Yorely Rincon, Ingrid Vidal, and Yulieht Dominguez -- played for the U20 side that reached the quarterfinals this summer. Big future there.
