I've given up on CL football a long time ago. Frankly we dont deserve it nor do I want to see us get embarrassed.

The prize money isn't nearly the same but it could be fun seeing them play against lower quality opponents (compared to the CL) in the Europa League. /optimism

Probably have to sell before buying just like every French team except for one.

so is any European trophy considered a huge achievement? It's obviously not the CL, but still...

It has nothing on the chorus of angels that serenade you into a champions league match!

I would consider winning the Europa league a big achievement for us. Especially if we finish somewhere in the top 3 in addition. Several big clubs have proven that the EL isn't exactly easy to win, and you have to play hard against talented clubs to progress. We don't look like a champions league winning side. But we can make a legitimate run for this trophy.

some real schoolboy defending in the first half but boy, what a great turn-around. Gourcuff didnt look half bad either.

i didn't even see the first half hour because i was helping me daughter with her math. as if doing excruciating HS exercises in functions at the age of 56 isn't bad enough, i switched on to find OL down 0-2 and went 36 shades of wild.

How much of our defensive woes can be explained by the fact that we dont have Toulalan sweeping up in front of the area anymore? I read somewhere that we've conceded 43 goals this season which is the worst defensive record at the club this century.

With Lloris in goal these stats become even harder to comprehend. Puel had the same issues despite his focus on organisation and physical fitness. Could Toulalan be the glue that held everything together for so long?

gonalons has put in some excellent matches but has been inconsistent. there's also a will under garde to play farther up the field which puts more pressure on the centerbacks but also means lsing the ball stupidly as apparently led to both of lorient's goals (and nicosia's, and so many others) is STRENG VERBOTEN!

when the team plays OK they do well, and when they play very well there have been some memorable perfs. you can perhaps say the same for any team any season, but take away a couple of non-matches and half a dozen flottements of 5-10 minutes each and OL is very close to their best season of the century. the key is concentration and consistency, and that will hopefully come with the young players getting experience. after all, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year.
