also depends on Makino himself ... he has to show everything in pre-season to get in the starting lineup, surely important, especially as a defensive player

really hope the best for him, maybe wasnt that good that he almost never played with back4 line before he came to Germany?

Someone who reads German will tell us better hopefully. But if google translate is worth its salt, it's suggesting Makino is impressing for the position of right back and is on course to be a starter.

    Re: Tomoaki Makino's Thread [R]

No, it's just about how Makino is doing in general currently. Solbakken asked the players in which position they see themselves and Makino said right back.
Major part of the article is about Koeln's training camp on Langeoog in the North Sea where there are no cars (Makino prefers the city). Ah well he drinks coffee with No.2 goalie Varvodic... He explains the training plan to the new Albanian player Odise Roshi in broken English and is an integrative figure in the team. He is the fun guy but has also a sensible side (tries not to think too much about the disaster in Japan). "But on the pitch he does not joke."

There is no outlook on if he will be a starter. Pre-season camp has just started and we will know more after the first test matches.

    Re: Tomoaki Makino's Thread [R]

In this article is said that every player of 1.FC Köln should discribe his wishes to the new season. So every player said, that he will be a starter next season, include Makino.

Makino said that his favorite Position for Köln would be a right centerback and that he hopes that he can impresse. That is all so far,but i read some story's about the training-camps from fans etc. and they were not unimpressed from Tomoaki, they said that he looked good.

Yes. So he prefers playing right back? Not centre? Or libero, didn't he even play midfielder at Sanfreece?

Koeln fielded a young side including players who usually don't see 1st team action and lost against 2nd division FSV Frankfurt 0-3...

my impression for now is he wont be a starter also for this season ... its just not enough, they had their first serious tests and he was used at sub again, made some mistakes i heard, couldnt impress

even the season hasnt started yet but i have a bad feeling about this all

One of the CB spots at FC Koln is held by another Asian, Youssef Mohammed who is a Lebanon international.

Such a pity Makino can't get time. I heard he's training with the B-team almost exclusively. Did he make the squad to play Arsenal?
