Thanks for that. I just updated the numbers to account for the new information. It dropped the median from 5,463 to 4,982. There's a weird gap in the attendance figures right in the middle, with no attendances between 5,463 and 4,500.
I was surprised that the median was still that high. My bet is that it will jump back up after next week's games.
Alajuelense gets a packed house last night. Nice to see the group stage is important to their fans. Couldn't say the same for Saprissa in past years.

I'd expect 10k+ from three, 5k-10k from two, and below 5k from three.
A little surprising. It did look a little sparse. 4500 for Communicaciones. Sounded like more Well-placed mikes, I guess. Impressive, for the downpour they had most of the game. 12445 for Monterrey.
Wow, I did not see the game, is that right, shit WTF? 1,920 in Metapan (this can't be right I saw the game the place looked almost sold out on the TV side and behind one of the goals it was sold out). But it is what Concacaf says so it is official. Plus I saw at least 5 people watching from the house next door to the stadium 7,500 in LA. 6,296 for Real España.

These numbers will probably skew drastically in March. I've heard that if Toronto makes the Quarter-Finals (which it did after beating FC Dallas 3-0 last night) they will play their leg in March in the Rogers Centre and try and break Montreal's Canadian attendance record when they hosted Santos Laguna at the Olympic Stadium.
Toronto will likely play in Rogers Centre, but the motivation is the amount of $ that the damage that a late-March game cost in BMO Field this year. I doubt you could fit over 55,000 into Rogers without some serious alterations ... and Toronto is not like the Montreal market, where the half city was aware of the game. You only have to look at how deep TFC coverage was in the Sports section of today's papers to see how low profile the sport has in Toronto compared to Montreal (2-inches of CP text on page S7 of the Globe, and a bit better in the start with a full CP article on page S6 with a headline pointing to it on S1 ... however both are dwarfed by NFL and MLB coverage, despite no games being played yesterday). Shame it's not in the season ticket package ... that might have got 30,000 there. I'm guessing only low 20s ... I'm happy to be proven wrong though. I'm sure we'll do far better than the less than 5,000 that Columbus has gotten the 2 times they got this far, and even with low 20s, that's more than a US team has ever drawn in the quarters.
But this year Seattle made the next round. Also I am sure it will depend on the rival. Toronto can still finish first if Tauro wins correct? meaning maybe play another MLS team or a central American team.
Toronto could finish first if Tauro wins. Toronto might even draw Seattle for the quarters. But even finishing first, Toronto could draw the Mexican team Morelia, who have finished second; it's not impossible, but unlikely, that Santos Laguna could finish second as well. Seattle will probably outdraw Toronto - I've seen about 18,000 there in QWest for a March pre-season friendly; though I'm surprised they only drew 10,000 for two of the Champions League group games.
Rogers Centre holds 54,000 for American football, so I would expect a similar capacity if this comes to pass.
Well, they say that, but I don't think they've ever drawn more than 52,000 in the last decade. The Canadian football field size is a bit bigger than American, and the capacity for those games is a bit over 52,000 these days. I'm not sure how they got bigger crowds in the early years of the stadium. Presumably they could squeeze in a bit more for soccer with temporary seating, but I don't think they are going to be able to physically beat the 55,571 in Montreal.
