AFC replays. They will never give you a good angle.

They were really 3rd choice, I think, after Iwamasa and Makino who also were injured.

I doubt whoever made those ratings even watched the match.
Yoshida as the best player and Nagatomo as the worst? Seriously?

Jordan had the same GK as well from the 2004 game.

Also because Syria won, it means they can afford to sit and play the same anti-football that Jordan did.

I'm pretty sure he watched the match as I did, cause our ratings are quite matched.
You don't need to criticize Yoshida in nearly every post AK, we got your point.
Nagatomo went forward alot but created nothing, and left rooms for Jordan to counter, sure 5.0 is harsh, but is the same with about 4 other players.

    Just back from travel/senshuken.

    Three quick things.

1 - It was not offside. Matsui and Maeda (both useless yesterday, btw) were off but uninfluent, Yoshida a good half-a-meter in.

2 - Free-kicks were terrible. Not good in a game like this. Do better, boys.

3 - I think it was good that Zac could see what Japan can do when they lose confidence. Now he hopefully will fix it somehow. The game with Saudi Arabia is already crucial...

I think Japan can and will play well once out of this group. Middle East teams are a nightmare to play against.

Agree. Freekicks are crucial to break that kind of tactics from weaker teams. Japan has the reputation with taking good freekicks, must keep it up.

Could have better if Honda had decided to stop the mukaiten shoot. First time, it does not work, second time, the same, third rime, the same, okay, now you can start playing the ball in the box to create danger, either thanks to Yoshida's heading ability, or with the second balls.
    The corners were also annoying.

Play them 100 times and we won't win less than 10.

I don't know how you can judge chemistry without being an insider.

I think he meant onfield chemistry or cohesion.

I don't think its right to say that just yet. The team had NO prep games unlike all other teams. Although anything less than 3rd and Zaccheroni shouldn't get a renewal unless the Copa America is amazing.

Hey just think.....how hard we would've come down on Okada for a result like this. Hardly anybody's mentioned Zac about this one.

I think it was because Okada didn't play the players people on here wanted to see rather than the result that pissed off people here... which makes no sense at all.

I guess it's too early to judge Zac, afterall this is only his third match? But yeah kind of get what you mean.

It sucks for Zac how the Asian Cup is 6 months after the World Cup but he really should be getting us at least 3rd with this squad. Anything worse and he's got to go at the end of his contract for me.

Zac should bring an "A Squad" to Copa America.

    1 st half : Iran 1 - 1 Iraq

Best game of the tournament so far.

I'm not all that optimistic about seeing an A-Team travel to Argentina even though I would like to see that. Certainly no hope of getting Keisuke Honda.

I was there. Very good game, about 10000 attendance. Iraq had the better of the 1st half imo (or at least looked a bit more structured going forward) then. We were sitting infront of a bunch of yanks who sounded like they didn't know what game they were watching.

On the topic, at the game, Japan's assistants & technical folk (Hiromi Hara, Sekizuka and the bald italian assistant guy) were at the game watching they were sitting pretty close to us.

If it really was the best game of the tournament, then god, it's really awful.

Zac did screw up the roster as far as depth, which many have said, but it was hard to argue with the starting lineup he put out. It's not his fault Matsui, Endo, Honda and Kagawa decided to phone it in. And Maeda was nowhere near as bad as them, he deserved a shot even if we all suspect he just doesn't have the x0-factor for international play.

So true. Having Abe as another dead ball specialist when Endo and Honda clearly weren't up for it would have been nice.
