I think Charlie will do something totally different than what everyone is expecting.I for one think this is a good thing. This is a guy who has /traveled and actually seen the college talent constantly for the past 6 years or so.

Overall a great draft I love Casey and Michelle Dont know about Dallestrom .. her stats are not that good but she is on the WNT
Very excited for Michelle Enyeart! She was a high school teammate of mine and is such a talented and kind young woman. I'm so excited to see her playing close to home!
OK...so far the Sol have got: Nikki Washington F Casey Noguera M Kiersten Dallstream F/D??? both? hopefully defense(!!) Michelle Enyeart M/F Kiki Bosio F Estelle Johnson D looking good, looking real good. Hope we can play all those attackers at once. ha ha
Nikki Washington is actually a wing midfielder, rather than a forward. Apparently one of the best ever, if she can fully recover from an ACL
Nice. We could use a good winger! It says that she had a season ending ACL injury last year, so yeah, let's hope that doesn't flare up again. And speaking of midfielders with career-ending knee injuries, we still have Scasna to play midfield, right? We also just got Mary Casey, as a backup GK. Seems people are divided on whether Dallstream is a forward or a defender. Hmmmmm.
Dallstream played forward for Wazoo but outside back for the U20's in 2008 during their World Cup campaign.. I think Washington will be ready for this 2010 season, the middle of the season at the latest. Her injury was early on in the college season. Not too sure about Enyeart though. I'm pretty sure she got injured the last regular season game for the Pilots.. Might be too soon for her. But when both are healthy, the Sol will be one FAST team!
Lots of forwards for LA and only 1 spot open - so assume Charlie going to swing some post draft trades or convert players to new positions which is a little risky. Big needs on defense.
It's interesting that the Sol selected two strong players with serious knee injuries. Their team looks like an even more powerful than last year.
OK well here's some news. http://www.insidesocal.com/soccer/2010/01/rogers-out-as-sol-coach-team-i.html Abner gone, left the team Dec. 23rd. Charlie new coach, and team is being sold. Um. Okay.
I remember last year we were all concern about the defense. We ended up with a lot of midfielders. On defense you have, Bock, Makoski, Coxx,Estelle Johnson, Shanner. Im sure he will change someone to defense like he did with Bock last year. Also, some of the new draft picks have had defense experience like Dallstream I would assume some mids will have to change position because we have a lot of them.
o my goodness!!! how'd they keep that quiet? aeg did say that the money losing would definitely not continue. they were just helping out the league. they say they have a buyer, but i wonder who is brave enough to take on the sol's red ink in this economy. will the league have to play team owner for this season? troubling.
Excellent draft. 4-4-2 Boxx moves back to central defense. Marta Noguiera Miyama Sorensen Scasna Washington Cox Bock Boxx Johnson LeBlanc Great depth on the bench. Classy drafting Enyeart. And still one spot to fill.
Dallstream was drafted to play right back. Very underrated, outside of the West Coast no one knows who she is. Great draft, Naimo knows his stuff.
As far as defensive depth goes, both Christie Shaner and Martina Franco will be returning. Also, keep in mind that the mystery player whose rights were acquired in the Abily trade is likely to be the other central defender. On the ACL front, Washington is expected to be ready by opening day but Enyeart is probably out until June or July.
In the few games Boxx played in central defense for the national team she was not that good, imo. Also, the recent press release described Rydahl Bukh as a defender although she's played midfield previously. Think Naimo will try a 3-5-2? Don't forget about DiMartino. I think she'll get more pt at the beginning of the season as Washington works to get 100%. Then it'll be a fight to see who is fit & who gets the pt. [LINEUP-4-4-2]Marta, Scasna, Miyama, Paaske-Sørenson, Boxx, DiMartino/Washington, Cox, Bock, Rydahl Bukh, Dallstream, LeBlanc[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
Like your lineup. My line up posted before announcement of Bukh and return of Franco confirmed. Agree with your assessment of Boxx on defense although at the time of posting she seemed the only logical solution. Haven't seen DiMartino really produce in the final third at Nat team level and watched her "live" when Gold Pride played Sol and still not impressed. Boxx handled her easily as did Falk/Franco.
