Agree only LA has a chance, if they keep all their players and get another good DP. But Buddle if probably gone, and LD may go out on loan again in January.
Ouch. Hopefully Fausto gets over his Robert Green moment in time for Saprissa's trip to Nuevo Leon... And thanks to this article from La Nacion, we now have a slightly better idea how Concacaf adds up points for tiebreaker situations between two half-season champions in the Central American leagues. This means that they do, in fact, add in points from playoff games - Brujas only got 36 out of their total regular-season performances. To be fair, though, this only proves that that is the case for Costa Rica's league, in which they already add in playoff results in their full-season table. So I don't know if this applies to other Central American leagues as well.
I've been banned from here before, so I'll keep my opinions of the Galaxy to myself. However, Landon Donovan was pretty solid in international play this year. You'd think that fans would be excited to see him return to the international stage tonight. Yet, few fans showed up. Can any Galaxy fans please explain the low turnout?
I'm thinking that the galaxy underestimated the islanders. The islanders did the same thing as The Netherlands against Spain except the Galaxy did not find an opening to the islanders defense.
PI know how to hussle. They gave Cruz Azul a hard time last year playing at PI's home stadium, but CA managed to add 2 more goals to make a 3-3 draw by the end of the 2nd half. Honestly, I was surprised that Galaxy was beaten...severely; even the own goal from PI salts the wound even more. If PI were tough at Home Depot, expect the same or better for when they play locally. Propz to PI for beating a top MLS team. You guys deserve the win and good luck next week vs Galaxy!
For anyone who had been hoping to catch games on Concacaf TV: I wrote Perform Group's customer support last night to ask what was up, and here is their reply in full.
I was hoping to see Sinha and company kick donovans and the rest of the galaxys ass but looks like I wont get the chance
They did get beat by a D-2 (USSF) team, maybe we can say that the American D-2 is the best in concacaf
Yeah, you just told us that 7 posts ago. I'm pretty sure we're all aware of your thread. You don't need to pimp it anymore, or at least not this often.
I've always made fun of Mexican clubs in this tournament, cause no matter if they make it to semis, always lose a game or two in group stage against very weak rivals. I don't know how strong is Saprissa right now, but I think that we might see surprises in Group C. Monterrey is a strong side, but they never give a s%$t about international tournaments, just take the last Copa Libertadores as an example, if Saprissa, Marathon and this new team, Seattle Sounders play well enough, then who knows? we can see a big surprise.
Group C is going to be the group to watch with Group A being the 2nd most competitive group. If Columbus does not advance out of Group B, I think it would have to be considered a big dissapointment.
