Toluca lost 1-0 last night. They suffered a questionable red card in the early going which handicapped them the rest of the match. The return leg is next Wednesday, but will be without Suazo, who is out for 4 weeks. Expect a vibrant atmosphere in leg 2, one of the best fan atmospheres in all of North America. http://www.mediotiempo.com/carton.php?id_carton=3627
The 1st Noel Valladares was unconscious tonight. He enabled his team to minimize the damage after that red card. Saprissa wins only 1-0 despite the advantage. All series can still go either way.

http://www.concacaf.com/page/CL/NewsDetail/0,,12813~2302679,00.html by Giovanni Savarese is tiled "Red cards reign in quarterfinal first legs." He typed "Freddy Hedjuk" instead of "Frankie Hejduk" just four days after I read an NCAA Basketball player's name be called "Fred" instead of "Frank."
Cruz Azul is the first team into the semifinals after an authoritative 3-1 away win @ Santos Laguna, taking the series 5-1 on aggregate. Still, Chaco had to make a dumbass of himself and get a red card - now he'll have to sit out the first leg of the semifinals.
RSL defeats Columbus in Salt Lake tonight, 4-1, moving on to the semi's. a dominant performance from RSL, 2 goals in the first half. the crew had a good spell of play in the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half, scoring a goal less than 5 minutes in, and then RSL took over again scoring two more.
Especially when Andy Williams scored on that free kick set piece on what would be the final play of the match to make it 4-1 RSL, one reason why they call it "The Beautiful Game". Over the wall.... under the bar.... and just inside the near post, an unbelieveable goal that was, that one had vintage David Beckham (during his man U Days) written all over it.
Saprissa did it in the CCC of 2004,05, and 06 off course Cruz Azul doing it in the CCL era is more impressive.
oh what the ********, how does zinha not get put in. ffejlghekjgheaklgjhaekljh ******** you lugo LOL at taking off avoyi. wtf is he thinking
seriously, have some ********ing balls and go for it. so ridiculous that we are one goal from equalizing and lugo isnt making any effort in getting it finishing this game in a 4222 formation is just embarrasing. have some pride lugo and gtfo
get off the field you **********, go back to your club in peru. you are terrible. just as bad as nava
******** this league bs, such a joke that we were punished for a stupid ref giving a terrible red card 10 minutes into leg one. i'd rather play libertadores anyway
those are the breaks tolucafan. hell, mexican teams have gotten some seriously shady calls in libertadores as well. in this case it actually happened against another mexican team. what can you do?
Maybe. Columbus was missing its starting goalkeeper and its best defender. Hejduk and Guille may have lost a step, but they are hard to replace. That red card against Borchers may have worked out. I think that his replacement Shuler matched up better against Mendoza. Today in the Salt Lake Tribune, RSL players and managment said they would rather play Olimpia because they don't want to play on Saprissa's artificial turf.
somebody tell those morons at Univision that away goals count. No wonder Televisa(a station with real football commentators) fired their asses!
