Best game I've seen from Japan in a long time. Holy cow. Actually Japan played this great a long time but now everything is just as solid. The defence is outstanding.

And Honda showed why he is the new star in Asian soccer. We can't really laugh at Okadas semifinal talk anymore.

    Thank you, Japan !

This was so great to watch !

And here I thought Okada was your Domenech ! Now, I even see some real class in the guy....

Whatever happens against Paraguay, your world cup is a success and you've found your new Hide Nakata for the years to come !

I just feel really good right now...

Honda would rot in Italy or Spain.

He would actually fit in really well in the EPL.

Great stuff, omg loved the 3rd goal. Was a wonderful balance of attack & defence by japan.

Now, a number of things. This was the hardest group stage japan has played probably. 6 points away from home is amazing result. Done by Japanese, holy crap they made Denmark look rubbish.

Most importantly, when people discuss japan you won't hear "Haven't won on foreign soil" or most importantly, "Can't take their Asian success into the international game".

    What domination.

JNT makes all the fans proud.
Not just the result, it's the tactics, the style, the way to play.
I can't remember the last time I watched this, free passing, skillful style with high class vision. That's the team that I fell in love with.
They prove that Asian can play football too, with passion and desire.
Thank you and good luck in the match with Paraguay.

Honda was incredible. Matsui was amazing in the first half and te teamwork and unselfish play was out of this world. So happy for Japan and as a proud Scot I am happy to see a nation of underdogs so happy. I was wearing my Japan top in support today. So so happy

OK, Denmark had a difficult task (winning at all costs), and those two FKs would have killed most teams.

But I have seen almost every match since 1994, and this was Japan's best game EVER.

In 2002 the team was aggressive, frisky, energetic.
But today, Japan was a mature, world-class eleven.
Today, we earned the world's respect.

    I am SOOOOOOO proud.

One thing only: Paraguay is NOT an easy game. As toughness they remind me a lot 2002's Turkey. If they get ahead, it would be VERY hard to get them.

In any case, to make it to the Best 16 out of this group is really amazing.
    I mean REALLY amazing.

honda is fine where he is right now. he has only just recently moved. cska are a big and wealthy club who are almost always playing cl.

there's no greater club competition than the cl.

    Agree.

Paraguay is quality. They are South America team but are well organized and ready to play ugly(France 98). They actually are the team Brazil scared the most in qualify round.
And their forward, Santa Cruz is big but more skillful than Bendner, and especially No 19 (Lucas?), he is the type I think Nakazawa and Tulio fear the most : can play on his own with dribbling skill and doesn't hesitate to run directly to the defenders.
If only they still have Cabanas, I think they ready to take on all kind of teams in this WC

Man of the Match: Keisuke Honda
Cant denied that Honda is new star in world soccer now. Okada are serious always, but at least he make the first step.

This is one of the best days about football. The result is already incredible, but more importantly, Japan completely outclassed Denmark (except for the first 10 min or so).

So happy that I just logged in this forum for the first time in the four years?

It's a big win of Japanese football - whole World is talking about them and how they played! Even I was jumping when Endo scored second goal (I was almost shoutning - let Endo shoot, let Endo shoot! - before this free kick)! Great win and nothing better than that to hear in Polish TV that Honda is great and how good was Japanese tonight! Simply Okada should retire after WC and, as written before, work as TV expert 'till he dies! Great success!

Wow, what a game, what a day. Almost every single article I read leading up to this match heavily favored Denmark. Japan was underrated and underestimated. Didn't think I'll ever see Okada smile! Wow.

This game proved one more thing - how Japanese players are superior in means of technique than most European ones even if they're from countries which haven't got problems with this factor such as Danes. That's why I watch Japanese football!

Re: (06.24.10) FIFA World Cup: Denmark vs. Japan [R]

This world cup has been lacking that sort of performances a lot recently.

That really was a great tactical victory by okada. Usually wiht japan its either dominate or get dominated with not a whole lot inbetween. But against Cameroon they fought for a result, and here they played some wonderfully balanced football to outclass the danes.

Fitness is the cornerstone to this whole plan. Japan must have run about 10km more than the danish today.

A great job well done, Japan.

You are a decent chance to roll Paraguay if both games are anything to go by today.

    Good luck. Do Asia proud.

Don't go overboard now. Japan played well but that first goal by Honda was HUGE as early goals usually are. It breathed confidence into Japan and set the tone for rest of the match. If it stayed goalless, the Danes would have enjoyed even pressure as they did before the goal and it would've been anyone's game.

Early goals play an important role.
