Re: (06.19.10) FIFA World Cup: Holland vs. Japan [R]

Getting into the "final" with Denmark with a better goal difference would be very important. Also getting out of this game with our heads up would make a hell of a difference toward the third game.

Of course we should also all pray for Denmark not beating Cameroon, that would definitely make it easier...

Anyway I believe Japan might change some player (Morimoto...?) but should play with the same strategy. It is no time for big changes or experiments.

Anyway, at least for tonight, let's celebrate!! :)

I think Honda will come back to midfield position and one of Okazaki or Morimoto will start.
Cameroon is short of idea so Japan can let them have the possession. But against Holland it's suicide. Maybe Japan should play a possession game, the midfielders should push more forward.
I believe Hasebe + Endo can give De Jong + Van Bommel some headache.

It's time to change tactics because Japan has nothing to loose. One can assume that Netherlands will score so Japan have to do that too. I also predict same side as against England with Okazaki back as a lone striker. A goal after FK or CK would be great too.

Japan should attack like they know how. Its the one game that we can afford to lose unlike against cameroon.

So shock & awe may be useful against the dutch. I think Okada will get them to play just like last september and if we get a goal then 100% defence again. I wonder if Robben will play cause I thought the dutch were a little off (comparatively i mean) without him and didn't have a lot of ideas particularly in the first half.

No pressure from now. We absolutely needed one victory and we have, the rest is just a bonus. I hope we will come back to our attacking football. I think we can draw with the Netherlands I saw earlier today. Really.

The pressing game Okada used against Holland last time Japan played them worked very well for about 60 mins, i think if he uses it again which i think he should, them he needs to make substitutions when the players inevitably tire, and use players with lots of stamina (maybe not a game for Endo)

Exactly, I still think Kengo would be more useful in our current system.

The way we played Holland in the friendly and Cameroon today is not so different. Is more or less the only way to play with Okada's men. What can change is on top, where I really long to see Morimoto start, for once... Okazaki was almost nil against Holland, I just don't think it would be his game, while I'd like to see him coming in should we go ahead against Denmark.

But overall, stuff that midfield, win the ball in the air and try to connect a few passes. Even against Holland, we'll have one or two chances. Let's hope they fell on the right feet.

Do you guys think Japan can play with that defensive lineup against stronger teams? They can't win games without even creating chances.

I would change Okubo with a striker. Morimoto. But now it looks like even Yano is ahead of him in the order.

I was quite impressed by fitness level of Japanese players in last night's victory over Cameroon because it's been usually their one of the most crucial weaknesses. They proved that they could run for 90 minutes. Japan could pull out a surprise again if they can keep running for the entire game against the Dutch.

One thing I am sure about this game is that if we play like the way we did against Cameroon, there is no way we will earn even a point. With the Dutch offensive lineup, we will get punished. We have to work on ball possession for this game.

Re: (06.19.10) FIFA World Cup: Holland vs. Japan [R]

Linup i'd like to see against Holland:

    [LINEUP-4-5-1]Okazaki,
Matsui, Nakamura, Kengo, Hasebe, Honda, Nagatomo, Nakazawa, Tulio, Komano,

    Kawashima,

    [/LINEUP-4-5-1]

Hasebe would be play deeper than it looks in the picture, as a defensive mid. This is a game for the passers and we need to make sure Holland see as little of the ball as possible. Endo probably won't have the stamina to be effective for the full 90, but id bring him on as a sub for Shunsuke as I doubt he could go for the full 90 either. I'd play Okazki up front because although his ability is questionable against top quality opposition he's a very hard worker and his off the ball movement is good. It'll be very hard but japan need to play their natural game of possesion football and press holland hard when we don't have the ball. A point from this game would be massive.

My lineup looks like this More in a 4-1-4-1, with Abe the one between the Defenders and Midfield. Matsui was so potent on the right against Cameroon, I'd like to stick him there again just to keep making runs down the side.

Also, I know Kawashima did a good job, but I still like Narazaki best in goal for some reason.

[LINEUP-4-5-1]Morimoto, Abe, Kengo, Hasebe, Honda, Matsui, Nagatomo, Nakazawa, Tulio, Komano, NARAZAKI! [/LINEUP-4-5-1]

    Additional lineup:

    Nobita Kun: Okada
    Waterboy: Shunsuke
    Towelboy: Yano

This is what I like to see with Inamoto and Hasebe as DM.

[LINEUP-4-5-1]Morimoto, Matsui, Kengo, Hasebe, Honda, Inamoto, Nagatomo, Tulio, Nakazawa, Uchida, Kawashima [/LINEUP-4-5-1]

Abe convinced me enough to see him instead of Inamoto, in fact I think he's better right now. Ina had his good time, time for others to step up. The rest of this team is excellent.

I agree with this opinion completely. That's best what one can squeeze from actual 23.
