FAS has reported Jordan NT to AFC and asking for punishment for the Arab team It has been reported by the media that the Jordan players assulted the S'pore team in the tunnel & local players and the fitness coach were injured (Slightly) The Jordan team then had to be escorted out of the NS by the local police.

SINGAPORE, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Jordanian soccer players attacked their Singaporean counterparts with bottles and broomsticks after losing an Asian Cup qualifier on Wednesday, Singaporean newspapers reported on Thursday. A Reuters witness at Singapore’s national stadium heard loud shouts for police assistance moments after both teams had walked into a tunnel leading to their changing rooms, and saw police rushing into the tunnel. “The Jordanians attacked with whatever they could find, like broomsticks, plastic bottles, dustbins and even a metal electric fan,” the Straits Times paper quoted Singapore’s team manager Eugene Loo as saying, after he witnessed the minute-long brawl. The punch-up followed a tense game that Singapore won 2-1, which revitalised the city-state’s Asian Cup qualification campaign. The teams were escorted out of their changing rooms and into their buses separately afterwards, a Reuters witness said. “I’m disappointed that the Jordanians resorted to violent behaviour. We were only walking back to our dressing room to celebrate our victory when they rushed out to whack us—they were totally crazy,” the Straits Times quoted Singaporean midfielder Mustafic Fahrudin as saying. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-asiasingaporebrawl_pix&prov=reuters&type=lgns
Home U AFC Cup opponent Binh Duong r seeking Vietnamese nationality for their Brazilian Kesley and Philany. Kesley will surely be accepted as a Vietnamese citizen because he has married a Vietnamese girl. Also he shld be able to play in Asia in the AFC Cup (if nt wrong as he has been in Vietnam since 04 or 05) Nt sure for Philany
The Young Lions, being the core of this year's SEA Games squad, had shown that the lack of experience and skill maturity can make up by the sheer display of hard work and strong desire to do well, as suggested by coach Terry Pathmanathan. http://www.bolasepako.com/2009/01/friendly-saffc-3-0-young-lions.html
I read in straits times yesterday that Dalian Shide may be axed because of their poor showing. DPMM FC is one of the replacements mentioned, Henen Siwu and an unnamed African side are the other possible replacements. IMO, we should never let a Chinese side in S-League again. They have been sending crappy sides here and always create lots of trouble.
If DPMM were to join the S-League, do we assume they will play home matches in Brunei, as they did in the Malaysian league. Foreign teams including DPMM playing in the Singapore Cup have had to play all matches on the Island
@vasilli07 The introduction of Chinese team is obviously to attract the local mainland Chinese population. however, like you said, so far all the teams are crappy and corrupted. perhaps it's time to give other team a chance... previously the Indonesian U-23 team submitted to play in S-League, but was rejected for some reasons. perhaps we should begin introducing a team from Asean.. a Vietnamese team ?? As shown in the AFC matches, there are strong and supportive Vietnamese community in Singapore @ leohoenig unlikely.. I believe one of the requirement to join S-League is to have the team based in Singapore.
I was late for the game anyway when the game, officiated by Abdul Malik Bashir who was recently praised by the AFC President Mohamed Bin Hamman, was delayed for 20 minutes or so due to the downpour. http://www.bolasepako.com/2009/02/friendly-balestier-khalsa-0-1-geylang.html
Only ten days to new season, (still no fixtures on the official web site). DO I take it that it is too late for the 12 teams to be changed?
Well, it certainly makes the league look less professional. I can only assume that the officials of the league are ready to put DPMM in there, as for Dalian resigning maybe? Fixtures should really be out a month before it all kicks off so managers and teams can prepare. Kind of makes a mockery of having the Fitness test before the season, when you don't even know what kind of schedule you will have - i mean it's not like European leagues where you know you play on a weekend and have Monday as a rest day, this league you could play any day of the week!
I guess the fixtures is planned long ago. but with the sudden interest of the DPMM to join S-League. they are probably comtemplating it right now and hence the delay... they should just stick to original schedule. DPMM or Henan Siwu can be considered next year. even if they can get they new fixtures out, the other clubs might not be prepared to travel for the away match in DPMM's homeground in Brunei. They should be more professional. This is S-League, not Brunei's Sultan's league. They fit us.. not the other way round unless there's something more than meet the eyes
Totally agree with that statement MoonFace. The S League is the Singapore League. Not the Singapore and Brunei league. Although, i do like how the S League has opened up and brought something new to it in regards to having foreign clubs taking part - these clubs must be prepared to play in Singapore. Otherwise it shouldn't happen. S League should stick to playing within it's borders and if DPMM or anyone else is serious, then they should be serious about playing in Singapore every week and should also be told that they adhere to a certain rule of fielding so many Singapore national's aswell. As it would stand, DPMM wouldn't bring anything to the league and they wouldn't even play a Singapore national, so what long term benefit is this to the League?? The other side of the coin is to look at DPMM in the Singapore Cup, what did they achieve there? Nothing, i believe, i think they lost in 1st round?? DPMM are more suited to the Malaysian league, but of course got kicked out for messing about, whats to say come next year they do the same again. I just hope S League officials seriously consider everything, from the fans to the benefits of including them, rather than just thinking money.
it certainly is a big question mark here and we really dunno why the delays.. been hearing feedback from clubs that they wondering why as well
Hi guys.. I blog on this topic as well...and it was also actively discussed as well, pls feel free to check out why other mentioned on this issue at this link below "Not another 11th hour decision..."
While i can see the potential of S-League being expanded when Brunei is allowed to play and in an home/away(in Brunei) format. If it's successful, perhaps in future other clubs from Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia can join in the foray, this would make S-League potentialy huge! I always think Singapore is too small to accomodate so many teams (from a fan's point of view, but not in development of players) Compare S-League to Malaysia Cup/Semi-Pro League days, so far it still could not reach the fanatic level, except for AFF Cup (again it's from fan's point of view) Singapore and Brunei was the two foreign team participating in the Malaysian League then, and logistically it was not an issue, as the fan base support can cover the cost of the expense required to travel (not just to Brunei, but other northern states, and even Sarawak, Sabah in East Malaysia). (note: to travel within South-East Asia is not really huge,if not equivalent to travel in USA (MLS), Brazil and within Europe) - To include DPMM FC (possibility at the expense of Dalian Shide Siwu) - To introduce a new home/away ground to accomodate DPMM's request - How long can DPMM continue to pay for the travel expenses ? (it may even be a handicap to S-League if the latter wants to include more team in future!) While the potential is there and it's a risk worth trying but all these needs more planning than hasty decision made in 2 weeks to kick off. I believe they will lost their focus as a result. (especially in terms of foreign team participation, as the initial objective was to tap in the foreign fans working/residing in Singapore) They should postpone the decision till next year at least. and Dalian should be given another chance to regroup. @ pohui - I wrote the 2nd last comment in your blog
