Anyone know why Galway doesn't use Alvin Rouse in goal?

Goal of the Month competition was on MNS today, Keith Fahey should win by a mile

Probably because Gary Rogers is preferred.

Agree about Fahey's goal. Spectacular finish that would grace any league.

Yes, I can see that, but from what I've seen so far I can't see why

Not really, I like Galway because they have three Caribbean players (Rouse/Barbados, Big Wes/SVG, and Nooitmeer/Haiti) but I like Sligo because they have Boco and I have been following him since he was at Acc Stan in England and watched him play for Benin and I know a guy in Sligo. Its sort of the opposite of how I do in England. There I like the teams with the most Irish players, yet in the LoI I like the teams with the most foreign players. Then again, Bohs have Crowe and Byrne, both former Irish internationals, and my last name is Czech (Bohemian). In the 2nd Division I like Monaghan because they have Willie Doyle and for whatever reason I like him. My only Irish ancestry comes from Belfast (though obviously its possible if not likely my ancester from there came from somewhere else in Ireland, her name was McGahey), so that doesnt help much either.

Choose Galway United. Better stadium, better club and better city!

Better stadium than Dalymount (which I do realize is closing)?

Its not looking too good for Galway right now. However, my favorite club, Wolves, were relegated the year I started liking them too. Perhaps I'm a curse or perhaps I'm drawn to underachieving clubs

I started following Shamrock in 2004 and in 2005 they were relegated. But they made it back up quickly. It does not mean that Galway will be will relegated, but three will be relegated this year. The way things have started it probably alot tighter at the bottom end of the table than it was last year.

Just watched MNS, now I really can't believe Rouse isn't starting. He kept a clean sheet in the cup (albeit against a First Division team) and Rogers continues to make mistakes.

St. Patrick's Athletic kept up their good form this evening with a 1-0 win over Cobh

Yes. Galway have 2 all seater stands and the new one is magnificent. The views are better: http://www.galwayunitedfc.ie/menu-items/photo-gallery.html

Bohs have let Dalymount fall down around them and it is a disgrace that the ground will be closed. Moving out near the airport wont mean an increase in support for them.

BTW Galway have just announced Jeff Kenna as their new manager. His first managerial job too. IMO not a good idea........

Looks more like Galway now for my favorite team. Kenna was actually playing for Birmingham when I started following English football (2003). Never watched him play Live for Ireland but have seen a few videos

Inauspicious start for Kenna, Galway conceded at home within 120 seconds! Currently 2-1 down to Bray in the second half.

Well get ready for relegation then, because mark my words, Kenna will not succeed in the eircom league. He's not cut out for management and Galway should have appointed Richardson or Connor.

Connor? He's a loon. Check the High Court listings for what he got up to while managing the minnows.

Galway is Chicago's sister city, that settles it.

NY Hoop, thanks for the tip. Football Association of Ireland (FAI), I guess could change it to IRE since that is who I support and not all of the decisions made in the Football Association.

NY Hoop as one who is able to see the games live do you think we are in for a long season maybe a relegation scrap or that we will get a good run of form going?

    Supporting one club is enough!

Big game against Derry tonight. We need a performance. Doubt we'll be stuck in the bottom three but we need a win soon. The best news is that work recommenced tuesday on our stadium and it will be ready for next season. See www.shamrockrovers.ie for further details.
