Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up The king has returned! Stephen Kenny named Derry manager today! Yeeehaaaa
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Serious talk of an all ireland league being set up with the "g6" of Cork city, pats.bohs, drogheda, derry and *coughcough* galway leading the way,Glentoran have supportted it and linfield have yet to rule it out which is what they have done straight off in the past, if it were to go ahead then the setup would most likely be 9loi to 3il or 8loi to 4il,the definate teams would be cork city, boez, derry, pats, drogs, galway, linfield, glentoran and swifts or cliftonville, talk of the other 2 are shamrock rovers and dundalk(should they progress enough soon enough) id be positive of the move myself as its clear neither leagues will progress to being stable full time leagues under the current models. Rumours are that platinum 1 would be the big sponsors and have promised first year prise money of 2mil to winner 1-1.5mil for 2nd place and another 8 mil devided to the remaining teams i think this is the only way up for the league and would generate huge media coverage both sides of the border. What do you think yourself bucky o hare,i presume derry fans are up for this
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but does anyone know the work permit restrictions regarding non-EU players for the Eircom League. Is it the same as in the UK (i.e. any player from outside the EU must play in 75% of their country's international matches to qualify)? Thanks
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up I wouldn't think so... I know in the Northern Irish League there has been a couple of players from outside the EU playing in the league, and I don't think, they had represented their countries. Can't see it being any different in the south!
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up March I think Cork city have signed George O Callaghan,Pat Sullivan and dave Mulacahy and are expected to sign Danny Muphy this week with terms already agreed
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Dave Mooney signed for cork city, still no sign of danny murphy, seems the budget has been spent.
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Our 2 pre season results from Spain: Monday 11 February: Rovers 0-0 Górnik Zabrze Thursday 14 February: Rovers 0-0 GKS Belchatów First game was a good workout played on a pitch on top of a mountain! Poles stronger and technically good but we worked hard and the result was fair. Enjoyable cheap trip. KOH
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Results from cork city's spanish pre-season trip were 3-2 vrs FC Unterhachting (german) 6-1 vs FC Laufen (switzerland) 2-0 vs SV Hongg (switzerland i think) three good wins and a runout for all the players, even if the opposition was absolutely useless
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up I'm just hoping Limerick can get back up to the Premier division. Was disheartening to see the club go under. Same for Shels.
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Will the Eircom League be on Setanta Broadband? SopCast? My friend is a Galway fan (his family is from there) and he wants to watch badly.
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Yeah, but its only 10. Any soccer fan, especially someone new to it, needs more than that.
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Well, for my friend trying to get into it, he will not be able to follow it well and will be lost.
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Rte will be showing Drogs vs. Shamrock Rovers on Saturday. I wish Setanta here in the states would offer something.
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up RTE's streams generally only work for Irish people, did they specifically mention that these streams will be available for out of market viewers?
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2008/0229/soccer_eloi.html Not bad! Even if the matches are on while I'm at school I'll be able to get them On Demand
Re: Eircom League 2008 Build Up Some game were also broadcast on tg4 last year. Dont know about this season.
