Looking forward to it. If I can get the time off I might just come out to see the Quakes first competitive matches back from our hiatus. And hopefully see us defend our Carolina Challenge Cup title.

Spoke to the Front office yesterday about buying tickets for this tourney.

They are in the process of changing over to a new ticket system and are having trouble iwth one aspect of it, Once they get it up, you will be able to buy your tickets and print them out directly from the Battery website similar to etix. this is a huge time saving messure for limited manpower in the front office, taking awaythe need to coordinating tickets and mail, not to mention hopefully it will save a lot of will call pickups on game day,

short of it is they hope to have it up sometime next week and if they can't they might just do it the old fashion way until they can get the bugs worked out.

Info on the Batts website now. Still no price increase since year 1, which is remarkable. If you get the whole package, it's hard to beat $35 for 6 matches and even 50 ain't too shabby. And yes, while it is preseason, with the MLS season only a week away, you're basically seeing the "Go Live" product.

right now there about 4 or 5 other threads going on at the various boards about the Carolina Challenge Cup, each one with people asking various questions about charleston, and the like. I think I want to dircet people here to this thread and hopefully they can find there anwswer here or some of the fine locals here can help out with questions. Anyhow I will start it off with some general Info.

It looks like about 15 Toronoto FC fans will be down for the whole week. they found a good deal on a beach house and it looks like its going to work out to about $300 ea for them to stay the whole week. another family are coming down and staying in a weekly rental as well as it works out cheaper than a hotel If anyone else is trying this here is a good website to check out
    Vacation rentals

They are also looking at playing some golf and if anyone else is interested, they might be able to help you out.

They also have a few fans that sound like they are coming down for one match day so they look to have pretty good supprot the whole week.

Both San Jose and New York have a few fans each coming down. some for the whole week others for a weekend match.

The madra Rua pub looks like it will open early on Mar 22 (8am) to show the ManU/liverpool match followed by the Chelsea/Arsenal match afterwords. The last time they did this there were aobut 50-60 people there and it was great time.

The Battery supporters are planning a big tailgate for the first match on 15 mar. We are tenatively looking at doing a frogmore stew with some other lowcountry specials (Boiled peanuts and poss. some shrimp and grits) We should have our highly supportive brewmaster on hand with his Mobius beer as well as im sure a couple coolers of other stuff as well. We are also designing a Carolina challenge Cup t-shirt that shoul be available at the matches.

If you have any specific question please post them here and we should be able to anwser them quickly.

I'll be coming in for the matches on March 22. Got my airline tix today.

Do the Battery supporters have a scarf they'd be willing to trade for a 1906Ultras or Casbah scarf from the San Jose supporters?

    Hey Mikey!

Maybe you remember me maybe not, but I was with the crew of 6 people who came down for the RailHawks away match last year. I was the one playing the snare drum.

Anyways theres is a good possibility (no promise yet, have to look at finances and workload) that I'll come down for the weekend to hang with some friends and watch some quality soccer. If that's the case I would love to sit and cheer with your supporters club if you're down with that. I had such a good time last time and I want to come down again.

I'll be down there for the March 22nd games if I go.

For seating, the best seats I guess would be considered the west box. Mainly because your mid field and the sun would be behind you. But for the most part, you can move anywhere in the stadium once he match starts and there really isnt a bad seat. Seating isnt enforced unless someone complains that you are in there seat. If you want to be in or close to a supporter section, We will be in E10 and I know most of the RPB are getting a block of seats in E1

You can buy a single game entrance to the pub. (contact Amy Plebanek

and tell her you re coming in for the match from out of town and want to buy a single pub pass) The RBP are getting pub passes for the week for $20) I would recomend doing it. there is some many cool things up there if you are a soccer fan, it is worth it. They usually only check adults and older teens for pub passes.

finally we will be tailgating on Satuday, but not to the extent of the first Sat. well probally just have some hot dogs or some thing with some beer. the first sat we are planning a big lowcountry feast (see above). Also Saturday morning if your intrested, a local pub will be showing the man u/liverpool matc at 8pm followed by the chesea/ Arsenal match and I think quite a few peple will be there.

looking at the EPL Schedule the Liverpool ManU and the Arsenal Chelsea matches are on sunday the 23rd. I dont know if that is a change or if I just looked at the schedule wrong. Either way the Madra Rua will be open for the match. Hopefully if your visiting your flights arent too early on sunday

It is looking like I will be there for the 23rd. So I should be able to attend the early morning viewing.

Also, do you know if the Battery practices are generally open or closed?

Also, is it likely that they would practice on the Friday before the games on Saturday the 22?

    -Thanks.

It would depend on whether or not, they practice at the stadium or on the practice field down the street. The practice field is on a public road leading to the stadium, so it's always open to viewing. They would be training the day before a match. They usually have a light workout the day of the game.

a couple of the teams practice at the Patriots Point field, too. I recall one of the MLS teams playing a scrimage against the College of Charleston as well

I had to hook up with Toronto's kitman, Malcolm, last year and at least that day, the team was training at Charleston Southern University, about 15 minutes away from Batteryland in North Charleston. As the week approches & all the arrangements finalized with the teams, I'd suggest an email to Andrew Bell, I'm pretty sure he'd tell you. I don't think it's a secret.

I will be coming in with some family from NY....leaving Friday afternoon, so I don't know exactly when I am getting there. The tailgate sounds great though...I am yet of drinking age, but it still sounds good. Also, I work as a freelance writer for a soccer website, and I would like to talk to a few of you from E10 (and the TFC fans) when I get down there if possible. My seats are in E8, but I am sure that I will venture over. After Sunday, it is on to Hilton Head for some relaxation.
