Wow, I actually agree with Doyle. The Churchill Cup is the best rugby in North America. After 2 years in Vancouver it moved to Edmonton (and Calgary) and turned a profit. THis year is the best England A, Scotland A, Canada, USA, Ireland A and NZ Maori is a great tournament. For those that don't know, the "A" behind the name is actually the "B" team or the 2nd team of the country. Don't let it fool you. THis is the best rugby played on the continent and is a blinding good tournament. I'm going to Toronto to see England A vs Canada. Bizarrely the schedule is available on planet rugby but not on rugbycanada or usa-eagles. 2006 CHURCHILL CUP OF RUGBY June 3, 7, 10, 17/18 (Toronto, Ottawa & Edmonton Canada; San Francisco) Saturday, June 3 England A v. Scotland A (Toronto) United States v. Ireland A (San Francisco) Wednesday, June 7 Canada v. Scotland A (Ottawa) United States v. New Zealand Maori (San Francisco) Saturday, June 10 Canada v. England A (Toronto) New Zealand Maori v. Ireland A (San Francisco) June 17/18 Finals (Edmonton)
Do you know where the match will be held, York University? Canada hosted Wales there last year, but the Welsh had numerous complaints about the ground.
I think its Markham. In about 2 years they'll have a new soccer specific stadium of 20k that promises' to have rugby games in Toronto. Doyle G who started the thread is apparantly over the moon with that development.
No Doyle, I don't. Amazingly I think we have very similar interests and beliefs. I think you will be the first to admit that rugby fans in North America are scarce enough without bickering. I wish the sport that I love (rugby) well and will go to Toronto to watch and one day will go to Edmon-chuk to see the final. If you are a true Canadian rugby fan you will know who I am.
