Too bad these guys are sitting in the upper portion of the standings because I wouldn't mind seeing them get relegated. They have given Italian soccer a bad name all season long. Its a disgrace because the Italian people are not like this except for in Rome and the rebel city of Livorno. These guys need to be taught a lesson by the FIGC. Not with just fines and closed stadium matches, but relegation and expullsion from Serie A.

Roberto Donadoni handed in his resignation today after Spinelli criticized him on live TV. Carlo Mazzone will take over and will sit out Wednesday's game but will be in charge starting Sunday.

Can you believe that after everything that happened with Lazio and/or Roma against Livorno you will have the ultimate Romanaccio or Romanista in Carletto Mazzone? This guy is total crack up! I love this guy! He should at least make the UEFA Cup... Too bad his club Bologna was relegated last year. Maybe he'll bring Petruzzi out of retirement again? I think Bologna his 1997 Cagliari club were the only clubs to go down to Serie B. I remember he either tied or beat AC Milan in Franco Baresi's last game, then forced a spareggio or playoff against I think it was Piacenza in 97, then was relegated.
I remember when he was coach of AS Roma. Too bad he didn't get along with Francesco Sensi in the end.
Auguri e buona fortuna SOR Carlo!

Can you believe that after everything that happened with Lazio and/or Roma AND ASCOLI against Livorno. Carlo Mazzone after Rozzi is the most loved in Ascoli, coaching Ascoli for 9 years in total over two stints. He even lives in Ascoli Piceno. He took Ascoli from Serie C to Serie A, and made his name in Ascoli.
Great man, however this is a huge rivalry between Ascoli and Livorno, which always pulls a big crowd. Lot of tension between Ascoli and Livorno, due to Ultras political differences, and when Livorno where chanting bad things about Rozzi. I remember reading about Livorno Ascoli about two years back, when the ascoli fans and the livorno fans, for a good portion of the game where throwing flairs at each other, which lead to Ascoli burning a flag of Stalin. Tonight expect Ascoli to get a ban of some sorts or a huge fine.

He didn't take over Livorno this Wednesday, because their playing Ascoli in Ascoli. Well thats my reason.

I'm sure he didn't want to coach against Ascoli. I thought the Marchigiani were all socialists? Maybe that is Ancona. Either way, Mazzone I believe will not play against Roma again at least not in Rome so that is a plus. I wonder if he will be only a care taker coach or if he'll be there next year? Read on! Forza Carlo!

Marco Giampaolo, is doing such a great job with Silva, i believe he's the new Mazzone, for Ascoli anyway. Giampaolo is only 38 years old as well. Also he's an unknown manager, so he would have been cheap.

I read that Roby Baggio was asked by Mazzone to help him out with Livorno. Just like Ciro Ferrara is helping out Lippi with Italy, why not Il Divino Roby?

Lucarelli was the one who said "tenetevi un milliardo" or keep your 500 g's! How funny! He prefered to stay with Livorno instead of going somewhere else fore more money, now thats gratitude for you.

I watched the program and he seemed to be a very nice and intelligent person, with his heart at the right place, so lucky for you to have such a guy on the team:)

Livorno don't look like a team who can win another match this season. They have lost six matches in a row now and they have worsened since Mazzone's arrival. It's a pity, especially because they have a player like Cristiano Lucarelli in their ranks.

Livorno will face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend and the Tuscans don't look like a team that can get any points. Having said that, Lazio have blown 2-0 leads in the last two weeks so it could happen but it looks unrealistic considering Livorno's dismal form.

I love Carlo Mazzone and I congratulate him on his historic seat as a mgr in the Serie A. However, its looking like after the 7th straight defeat that Livorno's president was mistaken in criticizing Roberto Donadoni when he did which led to Donadoni's resignation. I don't blame Sor Carlo because he came in toward the end of the season but someone should take responsibility here. Either the players or the management.

    Re: 2005/6 Livorno Thread [R]

Livorno have been looking like Sampdoria in recent times. A team that's in sixes and sevens. The Tuscans lost 3-1 to Lazio and even though Livorno's form is disappointing, Mazzone should stay because there are only four rounds left. The Tuscan side should be safe from relegation so aside from recent form, sacking Mazzone would be rather pointless.

Livorno play Palermo at home but the Sicilians managed to come back against Roma and when Palermo wins, they win by a rather convincing margin.

The facists and racists are in Rome with the Roma fans and even more with Lazio. I agree Livorno fans cat get crazy, but they are not racist or facist. Can you ever imagine Roma getting sent down, it will never happen especially with how they are playin and Totti there. I personally like the fire in all the fans, when it turns facist and racist I disagree.

Livorno tied with Lazio is a nervous fixture at many levels .. the game itself was not bad even though there was much tension between the players, Pandev and Lucarelli in particular .

I believe the ref. did a mistake to NOT sent Lucarelli off after bumping against Pandev after the first goal of the match .

This game won't be blessing at all ! Left party vs. Right Party , Football in Itlay is not ONLY about pitches !

After today's dismal performance, (5-1 loss to Atalanta), Daniele Arrigoni has been sacked by Spinelli.

Last time Spinelli sacked a coach he became head man of the World Chamion national soccer team. Maybe Arrigoni will go to Real Madrid next?
