Fiorentina has some good fans on this board. You guys would've been competing for 2nd if it wasn't for the deductions. I wonder what next season will be like with Toni possibly gone. I also wonder whether you will take the uefa cup seriously. It doesn't seem like anyone in Italy cares about it.

Prandelli has made it a priority for next season, so I'm hoping we win it.

The mere fact that with a 15 point deduction Fiorentina still manages to be 5th and into UEFA shows that the coach has done a pretty darn good job.

Is Toni gone for certain? There's nothing that would convince him to stay?

I asked this in another thread but I think I should ask it here:

Traditionally the champion of the CL gets a 1st round bye. I think its changed since they went to divisions. Or has it? I'm not sure.

Anyway, because Milan has won the CL and is already qualified for next years CL which team will take their place in the standings? I mean presently Milan is in 4th place but does this mean Fiorentina will take their place in the CL?

    1 Inter 37 29 7 1 77 34 +43 94

    2 Roma 37 21 9 7 70 31 +39 72

    3 Lazio 37 18 11 8 58 31 +27 62

    4 Milan 37 19 12 6 57 34 +23 61

    5 Fiorentina 37 20 10 7 57 30 +27 55

For what it's worth, Wiki says...

"An additional place in the group stage is reserved for the title-holders, in case they don't qualify via their domestic league. However, an association is limited to sending at most four clubs for a season. This means that if the title-holders come from a league given four positions, but finish out of the top four, it will take the place of the fourth placed team. The fourth placed team will go to the UEFA Cup."

So, regardless of today's result we will be in the UEFA Cup. I say well done considering the 15 point deduction to start the season.

That is too bad. I guess UEFA doesn't want to give one nation with multiple teams 5 chances to win it.

Especially a nation as "grande" as Italia!

    They're scared of us!

& jealous... Ever since Milan won I read nothing about Italian soccer being dead. The bottom line is, they wanted Italy to fail in Europe and at the World Cup. You can see how the English & the rest of UEFA are green with envy!

I agree, and I for one will miss seeing him in the Viola.

But, I am happy that he went out honorably to a foreign club (in order to not play against Fiorentina next season).

He is one of my all-time favorite players, and always will be.

    Grazie, Luca.

You're right, he did in fact leave honorably. A very honest and good man.

Definitely one of my favorite players as well. I would have loved to see him at Juve, but this alone showed what great class he has.

I hate seeing our stars go to foreign leagues, but he's still our main striker on the Nazionale and hopefully he keeps scoring in the boatloads in the Bundesliga.

Normally I'd agree, but I'm a bit selfish when it comes to my club

I hope he knocks 40 goals past the Bundesliga's finest next season.

It's very sad to see Toni go, but then IIRC he's at 30 or near, so if you were going to pull the plug it was now.

Viola should be able to sign players especially with the allure of playing in Europe albeit UEFA. The 11 million Euro won't hurt.
