Nice one. Maybe we will be able to clinch a Scudetto in 10-15 years, but Juve in B? Never.

PS- wow, I can post here again (after several months, finally!)

Can't we just kick inter milan out of the top 4 and let Roma and Fiorentina be in CL. I'm a Roma fan but I pretty much despise Inter, and actually I don't mind Fiorentina, I'd like to see both of them in CL, just so I can see Totti and Toni tearing it up for their respective teams, like they'll do for the world cup ;)

Fiorentina is interested in Leverkusen's Jens Nowotny (32), central defender. He is out of contract this summer and will definitely leave Leverkusen.

How do you rate him? We'll definitely need one more quality CB to supplement Dainelli, Gamberini (who was just called into camp by Lippi, BTW) and Kroldrup. Or a real quality RB so that we can move Ujfalusi back to CB. Over the last couple of weeks I have sorta gotten it in my head that next year we should play like this...

    --------------Frey
    -----Ujfalusi-Kroldrup-Dainelli
    Brocchi-------------------Pasqual
    --------Liverani-Donadel
    ------------Jimenez
    -------Pazzini----Toni

    Anyway, I'm meandering.

Jens Nowotny was IMHO the best young prospect on central defense when he was young. He was solid to brilliant during his years with Bayer Leverkusen and even reached the CL final in 2002 (which they lost to Real). But in that year he tore his cruciate ligament and again the next year. At all he had 4 torn cruciate ligaments!

He is surely not the Nowotny we know from 2002 but during the return leg of this season's Bundesliga really impressed with good performances. He is one of the factors why Leverkusen can still hope for a UEFA Cup spot.

IMHO he is really experienced and has at least 2 more good years in him. Hey, he would even fit to Ujfalusi as he knows him from Bundesliga.

How can you justify leaving Fiore out after his contributions this year? -- not that I am biased.

I think it's because it is not clear whether Fiore will stay or not. Valencia has put a high price tag on him and Fiorentina may not want to invest that money into a play over 30.

Fiore supposedly played very well v Palermo and I was really excited about his arriving this summer. I just think that his price tag will be too high, he's not what he once was, and Jimenez is just MUCH better. The one upside that you'd think he would have would be his leadership... I have seen one too many temper tantrums from him when he's been subbed out, though.

I thought Jimenez was a support striker though? Montolivo, on the
other hand, is excellent and I think he'll become Fiorentina's creative
mid very soon (possibly replacing Fiore ...).

That's because he is Calabrese. It explains a lot. :)

Prandelli plays Jimenez as a support striker a lot in some of his too cautious (for me, at least) formations. I think of him as a right wing/trequartista, though. We don't play Montolivo enough. A shame.

Who was the last striker to register 30 goals in a Serie A season?

With one more partita giornata to go, and Fiorentina and Roma having drawn in both meetings this season, what would be the tie-breaker if they finish even on points?

Gah, one game left, with Roma 2 points back (but will win if we have the same points). Fingers are crossed. Pttt, pttt, pttt...

I hope Fiorentina qualifies for the Champion's League. It would be disappointing if they didn't qualify.

Talk about a turn around season, damn. I hate Fiorentina, but you've got to hand it to them. Congrats.

If Fiorentina hold on to Toni, I don't doubt they'll be
able to get past the group stages of the Champions
League. Congrats to them - they were fun to watch
    all year.

Wish I could've watched them. :( :( I've been in the dark except watching scores and web videos.

You see I'm in the Caribbean... plus I don't have $$$ for PPV.

Anyway, this is fantastic!!! Fiorentina lives even more!

But will they hold on to Toni? What if some big club comes with 75 million euros for him or some crazy sh.. like that??? Dunno me going wild thought on that one...

On a somber note though: there is still that investigation and I am very worried. There is talk of losing the CL and even going down to B. What do you guys know and how does it look??? I need news... in ENGLISH.

    Peace and Very Viola...
