Own thread. Who's going? Great tourney for us NJ's. I can't remember the last time we saw such a good slate without having to go to Rutgers, Pennstate or UNC. To be Continued!!
In Friday's opening rounds: #6 WVU def. #20 Princeton 1-0. Shots on goal were 4 to 0 in favor of WVU. Delaware def. La Salle 1-0 (93'). Shots on goal were 4 to 2 in favor of UDel. Who's going to Princeton today for this free doubleheader event? WVU plays La Salle at 1pm followed by Princeton vs Delaware. As mentioned, it's not that often we can see two Top 25 teams play anywhere in the eastern metro outside of the ACC venues down south or Penn State to our west.
All of the results this weekend were shutouts. #6 West Virginia 1, La Salle 0 - A PK in the 20th min was all the difference #20 Princeton 3, Delaware 0. West Virginia wins the tournament. The two matches today were rather lopsided in the offensive categories, with Princeton outshooting Delaware 24-1 (6-1 SOG) and WVU over La Salle, 28-2 (5-0 SOG). WVU didn't need to record a save throughout the weekend. OK so this will probably be a wrap since no one else seemed to want to talk about the tournament. Friday's attendance was 634 at the Delaware site, and 402 at the battle between the two ranked juggernauts (televised). Total attendance for Sunday doubleheader was announced at 500.
