    Coach called 4 go
Was excited and then noticed 3 from our league are out of the play offs and 1 doesn’t play for his club and cost us the Korea game

None have any shot at the NT. Why call them?

The Huila kid and Arbolera are young so potentially can be for motiving for the future.

The other two don’t get. Why not call for other positions? Also players not in playoffs.

Montero played very well. Hope he starts in the friendlies after Copa America. Well maybe not the Brazil one :)

What is going on with his drug problem? Can he get banned for the migraine pills he takes?

Also if Montero is our new #2.... should be drop Vargas as he is Ospina's age and we should get guys for the future? Tho 30/31 isnt that old for a goalie

He has back problems and takes a banned substance for the pain. That has been a issue for over a year and they haven’t banned him yet

I hear that a lot of fans on social media are clamoring for Vargas to get a shot at not only #2 keeper but the starting spot.
He has played well in Mexico and the last 5 penalties committed by his team were not scored on him. ( He stopped 4 and the other was missed wide.)

That is an incredible streak even if it is just the Mexican League.

He too short for the new coach who wants Euro 6’5 goalies

can Vargas actually catch the ball

neither Ospina or Montero can do it and just punch it out of the way

We are talking about the same vargas, that failed in argentina and in nacional. Even in cali he was relegated to bench in a final.

That he is good in penalty kicks? Yeah we can use him as van gaal use tim krul in wc 2014.

Vargas has 30 years....is better to form young goalies like montero that will be with us during 10 years

I understand your points but some would say that what has happened in his past in other countries is not really relevant to the current conversation.
He is playing well in Mexico. Montero is good but as you pointed out could miss some time due to a possible suspension in the future.

I think it is Ospina's job but can understand why some are saying he should be given a chance.

Yes is having a good moment....but his poor precedents just tell me that isnt 100% reliable....is foolish to insult queiroz for a player who never showed a category of world class player, now that have 30.

That's a stupid EPL fanboy talking point. With modern balls catching a shot became more difficult, so much difficult that goalies are now trained to punch away with direction. I'll give you one thing tough: Ospina is not good at giving direction to his parries..

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2802528-the-evolution-of-the-goalkeeper#slide1

    1. We begin with what Begovic and everyone else view as the bread-and-butter of the goalkeeping game: shot-stopping.

"It's the fundamental base. At the end of the day, as much as goalkeeping has progressed, it's still all about keeping the ball out of the net," he says.

As you would expect, Begovic says "an awful lot of work" goes into being an elite shot-stopper. He says goalkeepers have to constantly practice their different techniques, work to improve their power, speed and diving ability, and continually learn how to position themselves to make saves.

Begovic says goalkeepers also "have to decide whether to catch or parry when dealing with the ball—especially as these days the ball is faster and moves more than it used to."

Most in the sport believe all top-level goalkeepers should be adept at stopping shots. "It's impossible to get to the top without having good hands and the ability to make great saves," Jackson says.

Montero and Arboleda are the ones most hurt that we didn’t make the Olympics. That was their shot. With Ospina finally getting good consistent minutes with Napoli it’s his spot for a while.

with Qualifiers and Copa America not much time to try goalies

#2 is Montero #3 is Vargas. Can’t see that changing until we have friendlies and give him a another shot.

He was a beast against River this weekend.

While I don't think he'll ever be a truly great GK, I do think he has the best upside of everyone else available.

Not so sure. Both are over age. And Reyes had complete confidence in Ruiz despite that kid being utter crap since game 1.

Likely he would've used those spots on fringe seleccion guys like Berrio, Chara, and Mendoza. A bunch of past-its who are in no way superior to several kids who are of age...

Over 23 players would be either of those goalies the team needed a #9, GK and a coach
