Ok guys I dont like Rob Zapata... he sorta sucks and just had that one good yr with Cucuta.... but he isnt better than Ospina. Remember that awful game against Peru.... sure he is in Champions but didnt his team lose every game?

We just need to wait for Neko Martinez to get back from injury, see how other gk prospects turn out like the 2 from Millos, and the one from Equipdad.

But right now I dont see anyone taking Julio's spot, think it is dumb to fly Zapata all the way from Romania when he has no shot in hell to play.... would be better off just giving that spot to Ospina who is prob the best home based Keeper and having him learn from Julio and develop quicker by being on the NT, as I see him as #1 in 2010

what other keepers do u guys think deserve a chance?

other keepers who Pinto has called

    1. Hector Landurazzi (Once Caldas) - had an injury and was shaky at the start of the season but has regained a very good form
    2. David Gonzalez (some team in turkey) - starter there and saves them from getting raped every game.... but at Dept Cali didnt really impress me
    3. Calero - too old to be benched and dont think he will recover from that big injury especially cause he is 36 now

    Keepers Called by Rueda
    1. Neko Martinez - (some team in turkey) scored that sick goal on Poland but is injured
    2. Julian Viafara (ath Parm, brasil) - was amazing against chile during ruedas last game and doing well in brasil could be an option
    3. Libis Arenas - (2nd string in Central Esponal,Uru) the kid is good and if Enviadgo had protected him like Nacional protects Ospina he could be our #2 goalie easily right now

Ones who havent been given shots
    1. Equpidads keeper .... his name is like belgrando or something ike that
    2. Millos keepers.. cause both are really good

I like equipdads keeper he is only 22 but amazing... yea Ospina game yesterday wasnt that good but Oltavaros goal was god like

think that Julio is old enough to go to Mexico, I dont think any team there can afford to buy him to put him in the bench and dont think Tolima is going to sell him for cheap either. If he does go would like him to go to a big team tho, so he can play international comps

think Caleros time is done and would be cool if he took his place in Pachuca ... I mean Real Colombia

How was it not good? the kid had no chance in the two goals and if it wsn't for him America would have beat a.nal by a greater margin. Ospina bails out Hurtado and Mendoza so much because he has great control of his gk area.

Trust me if Monterrey did it to Rodallega, they could do it to Agustin Julio. Rodallega was so promising the year after the U-20 South American championships, Monterrey shelled out massive money and he has been benched a good amount.

“Estimula, motiva; genera mucha confianza y seguridad.

    Its Julio, Ospina, Rufay

Especially now that Ospina is in Nacional..... Rufay coming from Romania to eat bench is stupid

    que mala noticia seria esa

pepinter made a good point that the past few friendlies the goals havent been Julios fault just a bad defense... against Honduras both Zuniga and Bustos show'd their crap defensive skills, against Venezulea we saw Josmier and the other young defenders making many mistakes feel its kind of messed up to blame him and if he is plays like crap in friendlies but is San Agustin in Qualifers and officals games then W/E ..... haha just give experience to #2 for that game

everyone is calling for Cucutas keeper and Ospina but neitheri s ready for that and do many stupid mistakes.... and then their is Cuadardo ... who gets scored on 5 teams at least once a season......

Really the only options are Julio and Zapata. Zapata is great keeper but he given 2 shots and blew them, Julio hasnt done bad at all and has been our strongest player after maybe Mosquera.

as for another keeper I think it might be time to recall Mondragon as a back up depending on how he does next season. Also would like Pinto to bring Ospina/Castellanos/Bladon or another young keeper to train with the team to get ready for the future...

Pinto promised to call a few youth players when he came in and was doing that but stopped would like if he did it again to prep some guys for the future

Farid is way passst it now, its like bringing back Oscar Cordoba. He has been subpar all season.

Back in the day when there were no strikers, we had quality keepers, 3 years on, its the other way round. Its julio or nothing. zapata is too dodgy, hell probably play against Ireland, and thatll be his second choice.

the cucuta keeper and ospina are too inexpirienced, give them 2 more years and David Ospina will be more than a great keeping talent.

So Calero wants to come back .... I think this is bs... this guy is awful and old and just wants to come back when it looks like we are going to qualify or are a top team... when we are down like when we didnt qualify he quit, when he took us out of Copa America when he wouldnt even dive for a ball..... he quit..... now this asshole that we are 3rd wants back in !!!!

    That is bs...

Tho if Calero at 37 (April,1971) can make the team why not just bring in Mondragon(June 1971) but people think Mondragon who has always been a better keeper in better leagues doesnt have a chance on the NT

ALot of people think I hate older players but come on guys there can only be 1 keeper !!! Julio (Oct 1974) is 33 at his prime and will be there till after the world cup we can start thinking of replacing him as from every game he has playd on the NT he is the top player

WE have Zapata(30) at Steau, named best keeper in Romania(crap 3 games he playd on the NT) in my opinion... but right now #3.... He needs more time in friendlies

Ospina 19, 2 time Copa Mustang winner and now at Nice... I see him as our #2 depending on how he does in France

Castellanos of Cucuta, Blandon of Nacional, Cuadrado of Millos, Landurazzi of Once..... all class keepers under 25

Not including Neko Martinez and David Gonzalez in Turkey

My point is why do we keep looking to the past that has failed us like Calero, Gio Hern, Vargas when we have better players who are hungier to win

People question IRC,YEpes, ANgel feeling the NT but when we didnt qualify all these guys where in the field crying.. while that bastard Calero just retired from the team

    loko....that is what calero wants
but there is no evidence that Pinto can even put up whit him again.

Miguel has to have a sensional season and the press has to rally behind him for calero to see the bench....IMHO

you hate so much any one over 31yrs of age, that it clutters your comments!!!

If was calero, I would just leave the thing alone and if they call out of necessity then I would think about it. If anything, Calero should be lucky that he was able to be the keeper without too much competition prior to this run on the qualifiers. As an example, during the 90's, we had Cordoba, Mondragon and Calero and Henao ex- Once Caldas didn't get much fan fare because he had all these guys in front. Henao in his young days was a great-keeper........and he reached his peak in 2004 with Once Caldas on his early 30's......Anyway, Calero should just put his head down and "pray" something happens and we need to call him up because of some emergency.

Good call but I dont get how Calero replaced Mondragon when Mondragon is younger !!! and better.... think its because our fed is too cheap to pay the plan ticket of Europe-SA than Mexico-SA.

I think Calero has hit his peak after 2006 qualifiers.... I was a huge huge fan but guys remember we had an Ivan Cordoba and Yepes at their prime(prob our best 2 CBS we will ever have) with a Luis Perea at top form willing to play RB(which he wont know !!!) in defense

as much as I like our defense now you cant say that its better than our 2006 WCQ one tho the rest of the team is much better

As for keepers think we cant have a player 6 years older than the one we have eating bench and being his understudy......

How often do goalies get subbed?? or not play?? should we really bring in Calero or Mondragon to eat bench??? (if so bring in mondragon, who hasnt given up on the NT 2xs already)

    but think #2 is Zapata/Ospina

and then we have alot of good other options for 3rd choice

I think they didn't like MOndragon because he spoke his mind and he was a business man as a player. As he is currently, he's an agent so I'm guessing that the federacion higher ups didn't want to have Mondragon wandering around the hotel room trying to lure players away from "protected" teams and owners............so they took him out of the loop. Mondragon was amazing on this days in Argentina ( after he went, that's when Argie teams started looking more our way for players, then came Cordoba, Bermudes, Chicho, etc.) and later on in Europe......I guess was never a pet of la federacion and/or any of the coaches.

My vote is for Mondragon. He is still in great form, has tons of experience, heart and is a good leader.
