The own goal was very unlucky and Hertha's defending against Broeker was spotty. I like to say it was a deserved win but the match was pretty equal all around. I don't think Hertha can take it to Fortuna and I think Duesseldorf will bunker down and get ugly in the return leg.
KSC is being relegated to the 3rd league (in the own stadium). Congrats to Jahn Regensburg on playing 2nd league next season (together with Sandhausen + Aalen)! Regensburg - KSC 1:1 (0:0) http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...yse_jahn-regensburg-1377_karlsruher-sc-6.html KSC - Regensburg 2:2 (1:1) http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...cht_karlsruher-sc-6_jahn-regensburg-1377.html
I am happy for Jahn mostly due to the fact that former 1860 keeper Michael Hoffmann plays for them. Not sure they will last more than a season but nice to see them make it. I wonder what Iashvili will do. There are some other "names" from the past on that team like Timm, Lechner, and Staffeldt. Wonder how many of the current roster will make it to the 3.BL. Sadly, these guys have fallen since 07/08 from the BL to the 3.BL.
Fortuna goes up after 15 years looking forward to follow them. Its amazing how theyve regained their spot when thinking theyve played Regionalliga in so many years after relegation.
Congrats.... looking forward to what kind of figures Fortuna will draw in BuLi, last time they didnt draw that many if I dont remember wrong.
Fortuna Düsseldorf - Hertha BSC 2:2 (1:1) http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...cht_fortuna-duesseldorf-13_hertha-bsc-29.html Congrats to Fortuna for being back to the 1 BL! Unfortunately, fans of both teams showed how brainless they are (the game being interrupted twice for many minutes, being on the brink of abandonment). The happenings from Karlsruhe last night and Düsseldorf this night will surely be followed by serious consequences from DFB/DFL.
And I already told you twice that you did remember wrong, but who's listening to me anyway About 40k probably.
Yeah, I know. And in 1997 that was perfectly fine given the circumstances. In 1996 Düsseldorf drew 25k (HSV had 27k that year, Fraknfurt 29k, Stuttgart 31k, Köln 32k, Schalke 38k). This was the 90s - sell-outs weren't the norm back then, and clubs had sucky attendances when they sucked. I mean - in the early 90s even Schalke, HSV or Köln were FAR away from averaging anywhere close to 30k.
Thats exactly why I am looking forward to see what kindda attendance Fortuna will get. I was thinking didnt Karlsruhe get around same in 90's as in last time they played in BuLi? and in 90's top clubs might sucked in average gates, but the regionalligas and oberligas had better gates.
Karlsruhe have a capacity of 30k. There isn't exactly the same room for improvement than the clubs with 50k plus stadia had. As for the lower divisions - the top teams in those also drew less (far less), and the league averages were about the same. You had many clubs with small crowds. Instead of many clubs with no crowds and a few with bigger ones like today.
Isn't it also a question about Karslruhe has not changed since the 90's and almost all clubs are moving forward?
Moving forward to what exactly? KSC had an average attendance of 29k in a 29,5k capacity stadium in 2008. 28k in 2009. In the last three seasons they were in the upper half of 2. Bundesliga attendances, with a respectable 17 to 15k per game. Aachen on the other hand just ruined their club "moving forward". So KSC is doing fine in comparsion.
Hertha fans were not much better tossing the flares on the pitch last night. I wonder if these promotion/relegation games aren't adding to the frenzy. Would KSC fans have rioted the way they did on a Saturday afternoon knowing they were going down? I doubt it. There is something about the suddeness of relegation that might tirgger such reactions. Does not excuse them by any means but if they continue I could see this format being scrapped.
I feel for Aachen. They were parading that stadium around after it was built and the club had a few good seasons in it before this season happened to them. One need only look to 1860 as another example of a club that WELL overexpanded financially and could not pay their bills. If not for Bayern buying the AA back from us and servicing our loans AND getting a foreign investor last year, we would be playing in the Bayernliga right now...again. Clubs should look to 1860 and Aachen as examples of how NOT to manage their club.
Fortuna will pay a huge fine for the disgraceful behavior of the idiot section of their fan base. But that's all I expect to happen.
