Diame nails one back post. NUFC up 1-0 early. (The fun on twitter with the Diame "transformation" are fun) Yedlin credited with a good cross or two so far...
30mins: BLOCK! Vital defensive challenge by Yedlin, after Fosu-Mensah breaks down the right wing & crosses low to an unmarked Zaha. But Yedlin blocks it away - Palace fans booing the fact a goal kick was awarded. Should have been a corner. #nufc— Chris Waugh (@ChrisDHWaugh) February 4, 2018
Clark gives up a PK for shirt tug on Benteke. Yedlin getting a lot of criticism second half for lose marking on crosses. I'm working so not watching. Just relaying.
Yedlin is looking OK, but he's continuing his frustrating tendency not to close down shots/crosses when guys get near the box. I'm not sure why he does this.
And I would say too that these forwards from Newcastle seem to have come from the Gyasi Zardes technical academy. Just some ridiculously bad touches from them.
Current headline stories on ESPN Soccernet: "Van Dijk returns for Liverpool vs. Spurs!!!!" "Spurs put team before individuals" "Does Anfield clash mean more to Liverpool or Spurs?!!" ("...and, uh, oh yeah, Live: Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle.") "BUT BACK TO LIVERPOOL vs. SPURS -- a game which hasn't even started yet....!" (Why I hate the soccer press, part II).
just "Yedlin" on twitter and it's like watching Heckle debate Hyde. Either his lung-busting runs with Zaha were critical or he couldn't play football if you held a gun to head (and his new hair do is subject to more ridicule than a Nunes memo on MSNBC...)
He did ok, didn't look out of place one way or the other, although often needed help dealing with Zaha on his side. The first half Yedlin rarely ventured forward too.
