Pulisic wasn't very involved in that spell of Chelsea possession. Like, at all. I feel like he's been in decent spots, they just aren't giving him the ball, or trying the forward pass to his flank much.
That was bizarre. Pulisic received the ball in the box in a lot of space, and instead of immediately taking a positive dribble toward goal for a shot, he waited and then played a tepid ball far post over the top of the defense. Couple of suspect decisions after a promising start for him.
Class goal by Mahrez. Tight control in space and pinpoint shot far post. Man City more clinical w/ their chances while being aided by some luck.
And when he is not "involved", they think he is playing poorly and invisible. I've seen at least a couple of chances missed where Pulisic was the best option for a pass.
This whole playing short passes out of the back from the goalkeeper/CB phenomenon is so dumb. Whatever advantage that is derived from it (and I don’t see much of one) is massively outweighed by the danger of giving up a cheap goal. Its asinine.
I thought he was going to take a shot too. He should look back on that sequence and realize that he should make a better decision. IMO, he's making good runs behind City's pushed-up fullback, but Chelsea keep trying to play through Willian's side almost exclusively.
Ederson isn't combining well with him. Which is bad, because it's Ederson/Pulisic trying to combine on that flank. Kante's shaded towards the other flank with Willian.
