I hate that our strikers drop so deep to help cover against teams that we clearly shouldn't need to defend with that many numbers. Pretty much guarantees we will have to pass out of the back every single time. Maybe thats part of the system or whatever. I just don't see a really good reason for it. Its not like Canada and Cuba have so many world class players.
Obviously the in-game tactics haven't mattered in this game for a while, but Berhalter's subs were a repeat of the Canada game. Fullback, Boyd, Morales, in some order. He has made a fullback sub in 5 of our last 6 competitive games.
Bring Guzan as the vet presence while Steffen starts and Horvath or someone else is the nominal backup
Gotta get there first... last time we went to the World Cup, Bocanegra was starting in qualifying. It wouldn't surprise me if Guzan is called up until Qatar, but doesn't wind up going.
So the final Top 4 would be: #1 Mexico -- 12 pts #2 Honduras -- 10 pts. #3 USA -- 9 pts. #4 Costa Rica -- 6 pts. So the semis are #1 vs. #4 (MEX vs. CRC) and #2 vs. #3 (HON vs. USA). I'm not sure I want Pulisic around against Honduras....
Clearly you haven't watched the USMNT closely enough. Also, what the hell? Without the other Higuain, Beerholder's system can't beat Canada. Which means, without a true 10, his system is literally terrible. CP could play that 10, but instead the system has him playing as a winger? I don't even know, I lose track. All I know is Tim Ream can dominate Cuban baseball players playing soccer against Tim Ream on the US national team. Sorry people, can any of you really take this match seriously? It's a bad dog.
Cheers to everyone who managed to watch all 90. Not really going to do a recap or anything of a game played against this poor of competition on this poor of a field but a win is a win.
Glad Puli will be fresh for Chelsea - City on Sat. That game is a far better gift to this sport than whatever this crap was.
Those American Outlaws only have old shirts, no one is wearing one of the current ones. It's over. Boring.
The Roldan Streak lives! 19 games, the entirety of his US career, without a goal or assist. Truly remarkable.
