Exactly why I think my pop culture title is right for this debate. It's more of a WWF wrestling match than debate of ideas between two people vying for the position of leader of the free world (which is a stupid title im just realizing) - and it's all because of Trump

It should be noted that this debate is actually a townhall style debate.

So Clinton and Trump won't be talking with each other as much as they'll be speaking to "real voters".

Not the best atmosphere for guns blazing, all-out attacks like I think Trump may want to make.

I think he has a tremendous opportunity to lose the election right then and there by throwing Lewinsky attacks at a voter who wants to know his plan to bring back jobs.

    I like this one -

"Holding a debate with Donald Trump is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are he'll just knock over the pieces, shit on the board, and strut around as if he had won."

    Deep post-debate analysis :D

The little bits we watched before having to turn the channel, we were wondering what might be going on in her inner-monologue so this might seem funnier to me than it is, ultimately it's just a promo for the show last night :)

It is driving me crazy that the title of this thread has the lyrics "going down" in it, involves St/ Louis, trades on a hiphop artist, but is not a pun based on Country Grammar.

The Trump campaign team is now in full CYA mode ...
    Great plan.

    One problem:
He's not open to real debate prep. Why?

    This:
Trump will never, ever do that, and they know it.
That's because Trump is Trump and there's no changing Trump.

The advisors know that Trump is incapable of change:
With that quote the advisors throw Low Attention Span Donald under the bus.

And here they do it a second time:
It won't be any different in the next debate because as Hillary Clinton noted in the first debate, Trump lives in his own reality.

And in that reality, he won:
I think he's going to learn all the wrong lessons from the first debate, and come out incredibly aggressively toward Clinton. She'll get to be the victim of Trump's bullying in front of a group of "real voters" and she'll be able to connect with those voters in a way that Trump simply can't.

She'll look human, and he'll look like a monster.

I expect this debate to go about the same as the last one, with the biggest difference how the moderator handles it.

They can prep Trump all they want, Trump can try and change all they want, and that will get him through the first 10-20 minutes, just like the first debate. And then Trump will be Trump, because he can't change. If he could, he would have by now.

In that case, both candidates can think of themselves as victor.

Unfortunately for Trump, Hillary benefits from a double standard. Because Trump has been a nonstop bully, he gets no sympathy when Hillary pushes him around. She can hit him as hard as he like, and nobody wants to hear him whine. Whereas he does need to be a bit careful with her, as one normally is with Presidential candidates.

Nobody's fault but Trump's own. This arrangement was his own doing.

But, but, but... She ran some ads with some very mean things about him.

Maybe he should move to Canada where negative campaigning gets punished swiftly. Remember what happened to the guy who called his opponent, and I quote, an "evil, reptilian kitten-eater from another planet."?

That went too far. Everyone knows there are no aliens in Canada or anywhere else on this planet.

Unfortunately for America, because Trump is so awful, Clinton wins the debate by acting like a normal human. That's great and all, but it would be nice if she had to reach a higher bar, because I'm not sure she could if she was being challenged by someone who wasn't an entitled baby.

Clinton benefits from a "low bar?" In a world where all Trump needed to do to look "Presidential" was to act like a semi-decent carbon-based life form? In other words, exactly what he couldn't do Monday night.

I want the candidates that participate in the debate to be able to locate Aleppo in a map and to understand that humans cause Climate Change. Let me know who qualifies.
