Not sure if you are being serious or not, but there is a tradition of machismo which does not promote women into traditional males roles. That is changing, sure, but explains things like the banning of women form professional soccer in many South American countries until relatively recently. Marta, herself, and her brilliance on the football pitch, really caused the hierarchy of Brasilian futbol many headaches.
Mind, I'm very tuned into European news, but the inference across the board was the France was the favorite.
Huh? USA won a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics and beat Brasil in the gold medal match. USA were the best in the World with a #1 ranking. Germany and Japan played for the bronze medal. In 2004, the also won Gold Also beating Brasil in the final, as they did in 2012 ( beating Japan)
The defense was very shaken, several giveaways. I would be worried against Norway. I agree that England should still be the favorite, but they look vulnerable against a sharp and united Norway.
French news? Germany and England claim they are the favorites. You don’t ask the TV sports or news “experts” . You go to the betting lines to find what the dispassionate experts think. Let me know when you find one that doesn’t give the worst return on a bet for the USA. Not that I condone betting ....
Those jerseys look like pajamas. LOL! Hah! I made my comment above and then read your posts. I was laughing hard. I guess I'm not the only one. LOL!
I think it's Hulu, because I'm on the West coast and I'm also behind most other posters by a few minutes.
That USA lineup included the following starters: Fox, Sonnett, and Brian. And we were in an odd formation, IIRC. Those players will not be starting again, IMO, should the USA face France in the quarters. Also, one of France's goalscorers in the January match was Katoto, who didn't make the WWC roster.
I'll admit, it's late and I'm tired, but at first I read this as: "If Spain had a cynical striker..." And I was thinking: how would that work? By winning at cards? LOL!
I just think that Brazil matched up well with France in this match. Both teams were able to maintain possession in tight spaces.
The FFF away kit, white shirt and socks paired with blue shorts carries a unique hexadot pattern referencing both the country’s informal nickname (l'hexagone) and the dotted styles of French fashion. It shares the same interior detail (“Nos Différences Nous Unissent”), rose gold detailing and Art Deco font as the home kit. Not keen still
one of Ellis's main weapons has been the high press, taking full advantage that unlike men, in woso, most teams can't clear the ball very far out of their penalty areas. The one exception been............France! They got the strong CB's that can boot the ball out of the ball park, or better yet, over the top of Elli's high press & unto the waiting legs of their fwds. Just double check the goal France scored at last year's SBC, to see what I mean if they do meet in the quarters. Ellis would be well advised to hold back & counter(instead of pushing/ball controlling the game to their side). France looked really weak defending against the Brazil counters. Got the feeling with the likes of Dunn & Rapinoe, Ellis is going to zero in on France's vulnerable, slow right FB.
It's the stream. Typically when I'm streaming a match, it is about 2 minutes behind real time for me.
I heard on BBC this morning that the market for women's jerseys is excellent and the best selling jerseys are France and Nigeria.
People, like us, discovered that France's secondary jerseys make for excellent pyjamas for the summer.
Europe 7, Rest of World 1 now. The U.S. is the only holdout, and even they came uncomfortably close to getting bumped out in the Round of 16.
