Yeah why not but I would prefer a target man to start, providing spaces and support for SHM. Suk would be perfect for that role and KSW too (even if his technical abilities are limited for a WC)
We avoid Hwang Ui-Jo and Lee Jeong-Hyeop atm, don't be too demanding lol Edit : but Jin Seong Wook is still in the race...
Koo has done best at CAM/2nd striker/8. Pretty poorly as a winger but he could be a right CM in a midfield three.
oh god talk about putting things in perspective as long as i don't see fkin lee jeong hyeop i will NOT complain about seeing wookie in russia
Nothing against him personally who did his best with his capacities. I am rather mad at Stielike and STY who constantly called him up, even when he played in K-League challenge.
koo jachul is best as a second striker but he cant play there if koreas intention is to hit opponents with quick counter attacks. there might be room for him in a 433 defend first attack second formation but that would just lead to increased defensive responsibilities for ki sungyong. not sure that is something korea wants. if korea absolutely must play koo jachul id rather he be deployed as a false 9. whether or not he will up top the task who knows koo jachul hasnt exactly showed up for the national team in the last 2-3 years. he has scored some timely goals but his overall game to game performances have always been somewhere between subpar to awful. if both lee jaesung and kwon changhoon are in form in june, it might not be a bad idea for him to take part as a joker. he can be the second half substitute that calm things down, rotate possession, and get in positions inside the box to score
Korea manager Shin Tae-yong revealed to the Korean media that Darmstadt forward Ji Dong-won is currently taking injections to mitigate his ankle pain to make himself available for games every week.— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) March 6, 2018 Why is he telling us this?
so that he can justify including JDW in the final roster. "Ji might not have been in his best form, but he has been playing his heart out to earn his way into the final squd-- he even took drugs to mitigate his pains"... blah blah
3-1 end result Koo played through and Gregoritsch now on level with Finnbogason as both have scored 11 goals (4th and 5th top scorer of the league atm).
Augsburg have been the same all season. Koo has been one of the best in the second half, playing many spots well. He really has limited options to work with when there's a complete lack of talent from much of the midfield. He does use hustle over IQ when playing DM unfortunately. But you can see the issues that Augsburg have evidence themselves based on positioning... when Koo is in attack, nobody can pass it from defense to attack. When Koo's in defense, there's a lack of fight in the attacking box. They're 10 points clear despite missing their forward much of the season, having a makeshift RB, and having to use s*** players like Cordova in attack. Local press praising his effort this weekend: https://www.augsburger-allgemeine.d...rkaempft-sich-wichtigen-Punkt-id50863241.html And another article on Koo talking about his links with Wolfsburg (not wanting them to go down) but also how his up-and-down performances are often reflective of him playing out of position: https://www.augsburger-allgemeine.d...l-Koo-steckt-in-einem-Dilemma-id50854861.html
They were down to 10 men for so long. Augsburg are really bad talent wise. The team is almost the exact same one fighting relegation fight last season. Putting Koo as a bandaid for all the teams problems means Koo has to re-adapt to new position almost every 40 minutes of action and reflective of lack of quality players at every position. If you watch to see good football, don't watch Augsburg. If you want to see Koo play a really mature role doing everything and then some to help Augsburg survive, do watch Koo but be prepared for s*** football. Koo has been excellent for much of this season and those here judging based on goals or Augsburg's so-so results and poor play are really missing out. We always talked about how perhaps we'd like to see PJS as a leader of a midtable team instead of 12th man on a big one... well here Koo is, filling in as captain, battling through concussions and injuries, on a mid-table team that is a healthy guy or two from EL contention.
no. not an anomaly, just on uglier end. this team sucks. Moravek, Khedira, Schmid, Cordova are all terrible.
Tbf Moravek had been good before his injuries. Reuter has made some great signings (Max, Stafilydis, Finnbo, Hinteregger, 지구, etc), but his recent signings minus Gregoritsch (Leitner, Schmid, Heller, Khedira, etc) have been very disappointing. Needs to do his job better.
