Started the bench against Rosenborg, came on in 2nd half. Not much to say about his performance. Had one weak moment.

Anyway, another great week for Dutch teams

    Valencia - Ajax 0-3
    Feyenoord - Porto 2-0
    AZ - Manchester United 0-0
    Rosenborg - PSV 1-4

PSV and AZ have enough quality to win the Europa League.
Ajax has enough quality to go far in the CL.

Best Dutch League since 2005-ish. AZ needs a new Mexican guy.

Guti back in the starting line-up for today's game vs. Venlo. Ihattaren's father passed away today or yesterday, so this may have opened up a spot for Gutiérrez.

Guti subbed out in the 85th. PSV were up 3-1 at the time.

There are apparently serious talks about merger of Belgium and Dutch competition for as soon as next season.

Damn the Belgium league has been churning out a lot of players recently too. For sure it would be good for the Belgium league not sure how much more competitive it would make the Dutch league if it happens.

  18. More like a necesity in European context. It pushes out clubs that arenot strong enough and brings in title contenders, so the resistance every team faces from an opponent, both in Belgium and the Netherlands go up considerably.
When Feyenoord, PSV, Ajax and AZ swap teams like RKC, Fortuna, Heracles for Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Standard Liege they really have to put up a fight to win instead of more or less counting on a victory.
For you guys it will make watching the lowland's competition even more fun. Those teams you would have to wait for in CL or EL matches to happen. Now it would become an in season match.

  21. This is going to be a big match.
AZ has a thrilling team with the best attack in the Eredivisie. So the PSV defense is going to be tested. They also have one of the upcoming midfield stars ready to join the Orange team, so a major test waiting for Guti too.
The defense is a strong point too as the only conceded 4 goals in 9 matches. That number doubled in a crazy match they lost 3-4 against Heerenveen in the 10th game. Manchester United couldnot get one shot on goal in the EL. Thursday they wacked their EL opponent 6-0 and it could/should have been higher.
So get the popcorn and cerveza ready and brace yourself coming sunday.

  25. No, you can't play against AZ with 10 men. Manchester United didnot get one shot at their goal in the EL confrontation with 11 on the pitch.
AZ themselves fought with 10 men back to a draw in the EL, so they're no fluffies to deal with. You really need 11 men. On top of that they also had two experienced p;ayers suspended.
