Het PSV-publiek moest héél lang wachten op de eerste basisplaats van 'Guti' in de Eredivisie. Thuis tegen Excelsior was het dan zover en de Mexicaanse miljoenenaankoop kroonde zich direct tot beste speler van het veld. Met Gutiérrez als grote regisseur op het middenveld walste PSV over de tegenstander heen: 6-0.

The PSV audience had to wait a long time for the first starting spot of 'Guti' in the Eredivisie. At home against Excelsior it was then that time and the Mexican million purchase immediately became the best player in the field. With Gutiérrez as big director in the midfield, PSV rolled over the opponent: 6-0.
